In tumultuous times, we live. One day we have a WoWs forum, the next we don’t. The whopping 3-day closure notice, which WoWs CMs claimed was set to mitigate the expected shipload of blowback in the form of inflammatory and abusive posts, took us all by surprise. Yet tellingly, there were no inflammatory or abusive posts at all aimed at WG/WoWs in those three days. There was shock, sadness, and a profound feeling of loss. This was OUR forum, OUR bastion of information, support, banter, and comradery that absolutely complemented the game. That belonged. Not surprising then, that some said without the forums, they would leave the game altogether. Not surprising either, that some of us decided to try something ourselves. This, the DevStrike forum, is the result.

We’re not programmers, website developers, or IT specialists. We’ve got all kinds of jobs, all kinds of lives, hobbies, and familial obligations, with impatient kids, waggy-tailed dogs, grandmas who need their shopping done, and partners who deserve more attention as well. But we do have one thing in common: we love the game, and believe the forums absolutely have their place in it. So this is our offer to the community, the DevStrike forum, with which we shall serve the knowledge-seeking, info-sharing, community-appreciating demographic of the WoWs player base.

With the very limited time available to us, we’ve started small, though we aim to grow and improve over time. We intend this site to remain not-for-profit, to have a transparent financial structure, and to be safe to use. To ensure a gentle a transition as possible from the WoWs official forums to DevStrike, we are using the same underlying platform for the site that WoWs used. To ensure transparency, donations in support of site will be recorded and listed, and the proportion of the yearly fee for hosting the site thereby covered will be clearly indicated. To ensure that as many valuable articles as possible are secured from the WoWs forums we are assembling a team of contributors, editors, and moderators, and we are in communication with Wargaming to achieve this in a timely manner. There will be issues, there may be setbacks, but we are eager to build, we are motivated, and we are united in a common goal – that with your support and enthusiasm, we can make this a lively, productive, and lasting forum.

I just found out about this forum via a reddit post.  I've been eagerly awaiting this home-grown by the players & for the players forum since we brainstormed the idea in the closing days of the wows forum.
And now, it's here!  Awesome!  Yay!

100% same, this forum feels SOOOOO much more comfortable to post, hold proper discussions, NOT have to search through a sea of scrolling comments, GIF, meme and all the fun things you can do! ~-~°(◠.◠)°v~-~

I agree, the forums are an integral part of the WoWs community. When you remove that, everything WoWs-related is just....lacking. :S

I am actually kind of excited to see this new forum since players will not be restricted to their regional forum. Pretty cool to see EU and NA posting together without having to have a throwaway regional account.

Good to see everyone here. There's a whole bunch of forumites who probably never showed up on Discord, at least. Would be great to see them finding their way here, because I think many of them still play the game.
