I think we can all agree that Operations is one of the best battle modes in World of Warships. Even before when it was limited to Tier VII, Operations served as a very pleasant experience, bridging the gap between Random Battles and Co-op Battles. With the entry of Tier VIII, Operations got even better.

Let's keep the ball rolling! If you have replay files, videos, and commentary about how the Operation went, feel free to post it here. 

For the past few days, I have been playing the Tier VIII Spanish cruiser, Cataluña. I am curiously enjoying this ship in Operations. Fast, armed with 203s, and has the F button that fires 2 very quick successive salvoes, but has a very vulnerable citadel.

First Operation was in Killer Whale:

This was followed by 2 back-to-back runs in Ultimate Frontier. Got a Will to Win.

And the highest damage score I got so far with the Cataluña was in Defense Defeat At Newport. LOL

On hindsight, maybe I should have not delivered those torpedoes to the Yamato. LOL!

Good idea thread Frosty!  I think I have some decent footage around.  I'll post another time.  I'm supposed to be a Moderator here soon as Swim adds me.  I think this is a great topic for the pin! :-)

I love Ops too.  I can run any class including T6 ships. 

My personal favorites are:

Ultimate Frontier  - Narai - Newport - Hermes.  Raptor and Killer Whale are a little boring for me.  Aegis is fubar IMO.  I wish they'd fix it or dump it.  The last wave is a yawn-fest if you have enough ships to even support it :-)

I wonder where LordHolland is?  He's an OPs staple.  I'll message in in game.

8 losses and 0 wins in the last 3 days. My last operation was Narai, and 4 ships were destroyed before Missouri died. I had a couple of Raptor rescue missions and most of the team runs off for the carrier or stays too far away to defend Raptor. In Hermes they stay too far back. It seems like the player quality has tanked drastically lately. I'll be taking another week or 2 hiatus from ops.

That's frustrating.

I almost always play cruisers. In these instances it was with my usual trio; Mogami, Mainz and Bayard.

Those are very capable and very effective ships—but only if you have the minimum amount of support. Sometimes we just have to roll with it... There's not much we can do if our teammates are easily sunk by...bots. LOL

Had a great game using New Mexico in Narai, broke my damage record by 15,000.

In the Narai game, by the time we got to the bay it was just me and a DD, not much we could do. I find taking a week or 2 off helps with the frustration, otherwise I get PO'd when i see teammates doing idiotic things at the start. I also find a good indicator of how good or bad the team will be is how long it takes to kill the first wave of bots. If I'm doing most of the damage to the bots, my team is most likely newbs/inexperienced and I know it's going to be a tough game.

Great job! Knowing how slow the New Mexico can be, getting that amount of damage is remarkable!

Perhaps it is a seasonal thing. Right now summer is in full swing, and a lot of casual players (those who just want to press W and not care about Objectives) are around. Things will be better.

No.... I play on two servers so it would only create a mess. When a game was  interesting I used to move/copy the replay to a separate, appropriate folder ( i.e good play, bad play, bugs yadda yadda) but this recent "Battle On" Weegee invention made me sort replays out much less...

Great game!

Cleveland is a personal favorite. I play and reset the USN CL line, a lot of times already; and it is with the Cleveland that I really enjoy the Research Bureau grind, so much so that I do not use Free XP to speed grind it. In Operations I have a 21 pointer exclusively for Cleveland, with lighthouse build. It has proven to be a very effective build.

PERSONAL GOALS IN OPERATIONS

Citadel Hits

One of my goals when playing Operations is to get Citadel hits. This started way back when Operations were still scheduled on a weekly basis, with Aegis (with the Kumas other IJN cruisers of the second wave) and Narai as the go-to scenarios for getting those black ribbons. When it was Aegis week, I'd use Pensacola and Budyonny; when it was Narai week, Fiji.

The last time I took note (and this was way, way back), the most I got was 41 citadel hits in Narai. 

There were probably a few instances I got a little bit more, but I no longer paid attention to it until just recently, when I took Akizuki to Ultimate Frontier, and broke my personal record, with 46 citadel hits.

Set on Fire

Another goal is to get Set on Fire ribbons. I find this to be a bit more challenging since the bots almost always use their Damage Control the moment they are on fire, and with my teammates also flinging HE shells like there's no tomorrow, what often happens is that I am already late to the 'fire' party.

I recently brought the Bayard to Operations, heavily influenced by WG's 'generous' offer to make her available for free as part of their 8th Anniversary, to somehow get to know her again. The last time I played this light cruiser was 5 months ago where I earned 31 Set on Fire ribbons in Ultimate Frontier: https://youtu.be/NcZquIh4aSM

This time, it was in Defense of Newport. The team had a good time, and I got 38 Set on Fire ribbons—my highest to date.

 

Side note. I noticed the voice announcer still mentions about an aircraft carrier when in fact it is a Des Moines chased by a Myoko and a Hipper. Wargaming still has not rectified this.

Sounds good, if you have ModStation, there is an option to turn off replay limits

I found this screens from last month. USN Light Cruisers are my go-to tech tree line when I reset them for Research Bureau Points as they are so consistent and enjoyable in Operations.

Cleveland 11 kills, 310K DMG

Helena 14 kills, 394K DMG

Dallas 6 kills, 150K DMG...

...and a metric ton of holes! LOL

Nice, if you can stay alive, there are many CLs that can success in Operations.

Burn down the bots!

Nurnberg is a real stand out for me.

Even at T6 in T8 ops, she's a real blast.
