Best combination for a division

What would be best combination of ships for a division? For a 3 man division.

Example: Gearing, Des moines, Montana?

or a CV with what two ships?

So yeah ,what ships work very well together in random games for a 3 man division?

Or maybe 3 dds. Last night we played Ragnar, Ragnar, Smaland, pretty strong combo.

When our group does a three-man division, our traditional approach is DD, Cruiser, and BB.  Really, based on the roles of each ship, you cannot go wrong with that line-up.

Now, every so often (rare), just to mess with the red team, we will run two Gato's and a strong DD.  Despite the comments and negative Karma we receive I will say it makes for a game full of laughs in our Division.

Musashi, Musashi, and Enterprise - the trolliest of 8-9-9 troll divisions.

In all seriousness, though, coming from someone who only plays solo, I would say to avoid a division of three ships of the same type (three DDs, three BBs, etc) unless you are willing to play independent of your division. While I’ve seen some of these divs play really well, more often than not they end up being a detriment to the team. Things like DDs abandoning their spawned flank to join up with their div mates or three BBs lemming-training to one side are common observances of mine.

Benham, Black, and some rapid fire ship (could be another DD or a light cruiser). An enemy DD meat mangler with a side of infinite torpedoes.

I am assuming you are talking about Random battles.....   But, we division in Random Operations most nights (fewer now unfortunately) and we don't have a "method" because the game doesn't follow a specific "doctrine..."   It's a FFA and that means, it doesn't matter what you take...

Last night was a 6 ship RO night:  three Tirpitz's, that new Schill our Whale bought just before we played, a Irian, and an Orlan (spelling?)

Why three Tirpitz?  German event requires German Ships.  We've had some really "odd" division of the last several months.

I'm guessing you meant Oland or perhaps an Orkan?
Orlan is tier-1 cruiser, if my memory serves me.

Thanks.   What ever that tier 8 DD is....  It's comical when our clan mate takes a light DD out !

And this is why I play the game......to have fun with my Div mates! Negative Karma be damned!
