Cruiser Clash - Dupleix or Elli?

So, WG decided to do another Canarias/Dido event where real ships are offered as freemiums.

Elli is a copy of the Duca D'Aosta and Dupleix is completely new.

I'm certain both are on the weaker side, but Dupleix just offers something new.

 

So what's your poison?

Well.... i have DeGrasse on both accounts, and she is  most likely betterthen dis one so... Elli.  Baguettes i have enough, not so much EU ones.

 

Truth to be told, since the Ops rework is hard to get excited about  Tier 6. Sadly.

From what I’ve seen on stream, Dupleix makes pre-plating buff Pensacola seem tanky by comparison.

Eli is the first European cruiser in the game (tier I doesn’t count).

No. One will be the premium battle pass prize in a future patch and the other will be sold at a future time. The contest determines which is which.

I picked Eli.  Still need 2250 doubloons after 10% discount for the winner.  Grinding EU dd anyway so no problem getting portal chips.

I picked Elli on the strategic basis that EU doesn't have a cruiser at all yet and should get one, so that if you're retraining an EU commander you can do it while running cruiser missions, whereas France already has a premium cruiser at T6 even if it's a light cruiser and not a heavy like Dupleix.

Dupleix. HE-armed Tier VI and VII light cruisers are at a miserable position ever since the IFHE rework.

I went for the Elli ... smaller guns, more dakka ... I'm so predictable.

Now I'm debating whether or not to invest some of my meager supply of free dubs on the Dupleix.

What do the more technically aware of you think ... is it a decent ship?

A while ago @Lord_Zath did some Twitch streams and sailed both ships in several battles.
He developed a preference for the Elli by the end of the Twitch stream.

So if you picked the losing team, you don't get anything, despite having sufficient portal chips(481)? Or is this patch just doing typical patch things, like not working correctly?

Bingo. If you picked the losing team you will still get the portal token milestone rewards. The only thing you'll miss is the flag.

It's just that they are broken AF.

I was notified in-port of getting the flag.

I got 780+ PC's but have received nor been notified of nothing to date. No rewards, no flag (don't remember which I picked honestly but think it was the French one), etc... 

Typical WG.

The event ended Aug 31 and here we are on Sept 14 and people are as confused as ever and very few have received anything. How about a quick news article saying which team won and when rewards would be handed out.

Yeah, the real and built Suffren-calss cruiser that is also the first 203mm armed French cruiser at T6 won.

Instead of the 2nd copy of the d'Aosta with absolutely nothing unique save the nationality going for it.

 

To this I can only say:

Hon hon hon!
