And finally the long-asked-for Black Black.

You know the whales are going to be climbing over themselves to get that. And the cash registers will be ringing all the way to Nicosia.

interestingly, two of the new (2023) Black Friday ships are NOT in the Black Friday crates.

* Repulse B - this will probably be another bundle chain ship. Note: Last years bundle chain ship, the Dunkerque B, is also NOT in the containers.  If it is not for direct sale the Dunk B will be (for now) a exclusive BF ship?

* Smolensk B - I was going to say it's odd for a high tier ship to be left out of the containers because in previous years they've added Tier 10 ships to the containers. And they've previously added 'removed from sale' ships to the containers. But the Smolensk being Tier 10 AND removed from sale does make it different to other BF ships. I wonder what price it will be. Tier 10 Special ships sell for 34,650 Dubs (i think). BF Tier 10 ships sell for 29,650 Dubs. I wonder if that will be the price (or a price) for the Smolensk B.

Goodness, I use Bradenberg in Ops, but can't believe they are making a black version.

If only they had done this before I closed my wallet...I could have gotten Smolensk which would only leave Smaland as the only ship I'd like to have and don't.

The 2023 Black Friday loot boxes are nerfed compared to their previous versions:

2022 and 2021 both had 10% chance of dropping 14 days of premium account, now 0%

2021 (and earlier) had 5% chance of dropping 250 doubloons, also now 0%

From what I heard, it is considerably nerfed compared to the OG Smolensk. So, buyer beware!

Halloween

Update 12.9 introduces a new Halloween Operation – Last Chapter. You will join the Forces of Light in its final fight against the Twilight Fleet – this time your missions is to escort Transylvania armed with a special explosive to the Portal. Protect Transylvania from enemy forces and help her reach her destination to destroy the Portal once and for all.

You will be able to participate in Last Chapter in your own Tier VIII-IX ships of all types. Your ships will change appearance, gaining a themed camouflage and special visual effects, as well as receive special modifiers that will help even out the performance of all ships.

As in previous Halloween events, the map is covered in Filth that gradually damages your ship if you stay in it, however, this time Transylvania is using magic to create a safe zone around her that moves with the ship. The magic weakens over the course of the battle and the safe zone becomes smaller until it reaches its minimum size.

Not gonna lie this peaks my interest. 14728F2B-B3A1-4254-850F-95D0D4BC5353.gif 3FA2776D-8A8D-41C2-B76A-50D3530DBACA.gif422DF9A2-BF75-4CB3-B533-CF8E0F0A8F01.gifB8F78AA9-0F39-425C-9BB8-7CF58863D2A2.gif

yes, a SMOLENSK BLACK

*evil laughter*

It's called "Revenge of the Clones?  They, our somewhat obtuse and third world host(s), seems to have run out of innovative or even, first world ideas yet once again....

It's yet another hard PASS.  Who the heck needs "black ships" anyway???  Gimmicks, they be........whale bait:  no more and no less...

I'll take this opportunity to gesture to the numerous Commanders in my Fleet who are awaiting a ship they can be assigned to as a Captain.

And for "Collector's Club" players, each ship brings them one step closer to the goal of "gotta catch 'em all".

Plus, the black camouflage of the dash-B ships has an aesthetic appeal for some people.  🙂

you can get black camo for any ship for very low credits do this black friday event doesnt have any sense, since we are just stacking up the same ships.

I have a Black, what am I supposed to do with another Black?Look at it?

They could at least change some stats on it, more credits, something, this is just lazy effort to get money

If you don't already have the non-Black ship, the Black version is slightly cheaper.

I agree that getting the Black ship if you already have the other is a dodgy proposition - UNLESS, as Wolf points out,  you are a Pokemon Whale ("gotta get 'em all") or you have a very firm idea in your mind of how you are going to set the ship up that's different from its counterpart.

The normal/Black pairs in my fleet are generally a consequence of buying or winning the Black ship first, then getting the other in a Santa crate. The exception is the Sims B, which I pulled out of a non-premium BF crate after I'd bought the original.

The Black is an interesting case, since there were actually people who wanted a Black Black and had been asking for it.

The Black ships are generally cheaper than their standard variant by a small amount, or - in the case of Massachusetts B, Jean Bart B, Asashio B and now Smolensk B, they represent an opportunity to obtain a ship that has been withdrawn from regular sale.

I completely agree that in most cases, there's no point in buying a duplicate of a premium ship you already have - especially if the original is available for coal (Kearsarge, Black). But see the post just above this one as to why someone MIGHT decide that's a good idea.

true BUT the problem is containers, you get ships you dont want to in order to get the one you want. RARELY they sell single ship for you to buy it ( talking about rare ones) and if they do the price is so big that it makes no sense.

And, @Asym, on top of everything that @Ensign Cthulhu and I have mentioned, the "dash-B" or "Black Ships" are one more ship in one's Port when "snowflakes" or seasonal event indicators are temporarily placed on ships and rewards are provided when a player plays the ship.
More ships in one's Port means more potential in-game rewards.

I think I know what Asym's going to say in reply to this, and I have a funny feeling I might end up agreeing with him.

We'll see.  I don't see a need for me to put words into @Asym's mouth.  I'll wait for him to express himself as he sees fit.  🙂

They rather remind me of Venus in Furs (all that shiny black and silver)...!

In the unlikely event there are any impressionable Young People in the vicinity:
