Shipyard Missions and Objectives

This weeks missions include;

BB Shootdown 100 Aircraft.

It upsets me when the scenario has 'your side wins when enemy reaches 0 pts' and this is in the battle results.

and yes, that CV was at at or near full health.

Surprised you were even able to be in a battle with CVs in it. Seems like you never get games with CVs in it when you need to do missions where you need to shoot down planes.

Play asyms. They love throwing a CV in for no reason. But its still bots so you can mow em down easy. I got 40 or so last night over 5 games.

I thought I was just being paranoid about never seeing CVs when working on the BB shoot-down-planes missions.  When I entered the 15th consecutive match without a CV, I was not so sure about my paranoia.

I'm having a slow grind on the 100 Aircraft Shot down mission in Asymmetric mode with my GK.

I played all day yesterday (Aussie timezone) and I'm up to 60 of the required 100 ... which sounds pretty good, except for the fact that I have played about 40 games of Asym in my GK since these missions went live.

What's REALLY ironic is that I just had a game (while gathering data for this post) ... again in Asymmetric and in my GK ... and I shot down 21 aircraft.

All of which goes to once again confirm those two pieces of veteran wisdom for us:

I have to agree with you.  I managed to get 72 aircraft on Wednesday.  Today it took another 8 asym games to get the remainder.  In the 4 games after that, I had CVs show up in 3 of them and managed to get over 100 in those 4 games.

Finished the missions the day they opened (Wednesday).

Took 18 Asymmetric matches.

4 Matches - Yodo, for the 20 torp hits.

14 Matches - Georgia, for 100 planes shot down.

I used the 2nd lowest boosters for the XP/credits parts. (I have 1000s of the XP booster at that lvl, and 100s of the credit boosters)

The bot CVs in asymmetrics pretty much always attack in the same manner. They go after mid zone + furthest ships forward. So always try to get in a forward position, closer to the middle lane. Without throwing the match ofc. 

Can just be bad luck with not getting a CV in match.

I'm ignoring the BB mission. I wiped out the CV, Cruiser and DD missions in one night, plus both ribbons missions that the DD mission also completes. I'll probably earn the credits before I make the XP count, but I'm well in excess of my daily quota on both.

Playing carriers gives you options. Spurning carriers reduces them.

The heat gets turned up next week.

Not by much. If you leave the cruiser task out (worse than the BB task this week) and divide everything by seven it's still manageable. Phase 5 is where it really starts to get grindy.

You need to division up with a CV player. Guaranteed enemy CV.

Maybe that's an idea for our forum. Have a place where folks can go to request certain division mate ships for dockyard and other event grind missions.

If I had more time I'd be happy to offer my services as a CV main for this kind of thing.

Hey, when you need planes to shoot down...divisioning with a CV will guarantee planes...

Why not utilize the MM system to aid your grind, rather than let the casino determine how much time you lose?

I salute you Op for trying to do this but, i cannot help but ask, why?

The CV and DDs mission are far easier, even the Cruiser one is easier.

The BB mission depends so much on MM and Bots and/or Players especifically attacking you out of the rest of the team that it could be damn well labelled a bait mission considering the time it takes to finish it. Yeah you could have luck and get 20 or more aircrafts on a single game but that is probably not gonna happen every game, even in asym. It is an unreliable type mission.

I have many CVs but don't play them much - so skill at them is lacking.

I completed BB, CA and 4 other missions before finishing the DD one.

BTW, many of the USN BBs are great at shooting down aircraft, they just have to show up!

I tried my good AA BBs, like Kansas and Minnesota, and no CVs showed up.  When I played the BBs with poor AA, that's when the double CV games showed up to target my BB unmercifully.  Use reverse logic.

Pretty easy this time to explain. The week 3 CV task is pretty obnoxious outside of a few CV’s that can do it easy so people are doing other tasks instead. As a result CV’s are scarce as honest politicians (PVE anyway Randoms CV numbers seem about the same to be).
