Subtle_Octavian
Ok the event is live. 174,993 doubloons for the Chikuma II Golden pity drop $700 usd for a T10 cruiser ------------------------------------- You get 20 tokens per container, and need 100 to spin the wheel once for the Chikuma II gold. 500 try pity mechanic. 25 containers @ 16k doubloons, 5 chances from 500 tokens. Theoretically 1,600,000 doubloons or $6300 in gambling to reach the pity drop for Chikuma II Golden. I'm sure it will be far less, but still in the multi hundreds if not over $1000, but the possibility for the completely unlucky would be the maximum pity drop. At this point the game need some sort of government attention, because they are targeting addicted people who can't control themselves. You can wind up with nothing but camos for ships you don't have and some permanent camos you can already buy in the game for 750d or 9m silver each. I assume that when the supermodel marries you, she will ask you to help her play the Golden Chikuma she won on the very first pull. 1 1

WG is using this but they are not the only ones. And nobody can stop this since gambling is everywhere, its a high profit, commercials are everywhere, even football teams now wear logos of gambling sites. Your only defence against this is yourself.

Can you show me where a player's arm is being twisted or a gun is being pointed to their head in order to force them to spend cash?

No. If people want to piss away their money, time, life- that is on them, no nanny state intervention necessary.

Players have a choice. Some choose more wisely than others, but the choice remains with the player.

I am with you. We don't need the government interfering with how we choose to spend the money we earn. Also, doing so penalizes those who are responsible and not addicts. If I want to blow a little money I earn on a game I enjoy that is my right. Don't penalize me because some people have no control of themselves.

Sorry but I can't agree. It comes down to personal responsibility. You have it or your don't. And that can mean being responsible and not spending what you can't afford -OR- seeking help if you become an addict. "Most" people can control themselves and only spend what they can afford. Those who can't should seek help to deal with it. Edited April 17 by AdmiralThunder

So, some people have diabetes and we shouldn't subsidize their medication...they should just all be personally responsible with their diet. Sounds good until you see reality in practice. Where do you think people are going to 'seek help' these days for gambling addictions? That's right...the government, either to provide services or to help pay for those services. What do you think that government is going to do to organizations which make helping gambling addicts more difficult and expensive? Start regulating. It's inevitable. Your philosophical viewpoint has already lost. Rail about it to your heart's content. It won't change anything.

clammboy
I think we should all suffer because 10% of the population have problems dealing with things so the other 90% should be regulated by laws to protect 10% who cant handle things. Makes perfect sense in this day and age when people cant figure out whether there a male of a female. . 1

It does make sense when you think about it. After all, there are people suffering things for your benefit as well. That all said, don't get trapped in the wishing wharf gambling hole unless you are prepared to be happy with the most worthless bit of dross you can think of in the prize pool. Hence the "do not submerge while plugged in" on a toaster.
