Lots of people complain about kill steals.  No such thing.  Bearn is a DD hunter.  Most effective CV in the game in that regard, despite WG's latest nerf.  But it works best with help.  I can do damage and I can keep 'em spotted as I engage.  But having friendlies add to the carnage when I'm making my attacks and have them spotted is how you win games.  This DD driver gets it:

until the red ship is sunk, its fair game for anyone to sink, it does not have a particular players name written on it (other then the one controlling it).

As a DD main it’s always frustrating watching a perfect torpedo spread head a red ship for a dev strike only to be robed at the last moment by long range gun fire. But hey, at least the red ship sank.

As a DD main, I do not mind especially when a cruiser is helping finishing off a spotting. But it doesn't seem to be a prevailing habit. But you would think so. Plenty of red dd's have this kind of support if I get too close.

I'm not a DD main, but I do dally in DDs from time to time and I do know the feeling.

There is no such thing as kill stealing yet there is kill stealing. I'm glad I cleared this up for you. 😁

I have done this to myself.  Line up torps, fire, switch to guns, a few volley's later targrt dies.  Then I watch giant splashes of water as the torps hit the sinking hulk.  Oops.

"Right now, I feel like I can take on the whole Empire myself!" - quote attributed to a kill steal accuser just before the battle where everyone agreed to not kill steal his targets.  The after action report reveals he got his wish and the enemy steamrolled his own forces by not worrying about such things.
