I had pre-buff played and researched up to tier 8 but just wasn't enjoying it anymore. FYI, its still not any better lol. But I kept at it and got Lepanto. Almost done with the grind, and I'm having really good results. Its my best tier 9 BB win rate wise, mid 60% range. Yeah I was kinda thinking that too, but then I peaked at my averages and it was top of the list for tier 9 BB's. 2100xp, 66% win rate. I was quite surprised. Seems like that's its thing lol.
