Is there an Aslain's app to show who the tough opponents are?

  • HogHammer changed the title to Tough Opponents

Before we start, I am taking "tough opponents" to mean "good players" not "strong ships". Apologies if the reverse was intended.

- Matchmaking monitor or similar apps (bottom of Aslains) will show you the overall and ship specific performance of all players in the match. They run on the side and use the player names from the match to pull data from the API. Personally I would recommend against it, as being permanently reminded just how non-competent most players are will be depressing to the point of distraction.

- Clan Emblems (top of Aslains by the sidebars) will show the clan icons for the established clans. Not a complete guide to which players will be good, but a handy visual aid. Most top clans have a fairly memorable icon, so it will get you 70% of the way there with very little collateral depression. This is what I run.

- Check the clan battle standings periodically. The tags don't change very much at the top end, and after a while you'll have memorized them. Bonus points if you go back and familiarize yourself with some of the older tags that still pop up now and again. Definitely useful if you're serious about min-maxing your random battles approach, understanding what opponent likely had comp experience can be a life saver.

Hope that helps o>

Personally speaking...

Yes, there are. MM Monitor as mentioned above is one and there may be others. But I agree with torino2dc that I would recommend against it. I've seen people rage quit at the start because of it. The equivalent in World of Tanks kinda ruined it for me. I've used it in the past and yes, it's rather depressing when you see your team filled with underperforming players while the other side gets mostly good ones.

As a player in WOT that had fairly decent "stats", I'd sometimes draw extra focus because of it. The clan I was in on the SEA server was well known so that was part of it as well. You'd often hear people calling out the "purple" players at the start to their teammates. Not really fair, IMO. Your only way to avoid it is to hide your stats.

These days, I don't really care though. I'm not nearly as "competitive" as I used to be.

Yup, I agree, I don't think it's help to know other player performance, this is not something anyone can control over other people. It's better to not forced on someone, but forced on yourself and learn to enjoy playing in your own way, rather than worried about other people's performance that you had no control over (Part reason I like single player game offline, it's safe and easier to enjoy gameplay much more than PVP do. Sady, I don't think there is 3D navy current single player, something I like to play as CV, but there is no game for that, other than 2D or old outsdate game in 20 year ago, often it's don't look good in arts as well, it's bunkly 3D I do not enjoy art in old navy game along gameplay chunks (not smoothly fun gameplay type)

Mods don't dovetail with my system very well at all so I do not use them.

A poor man's method is to check for emblems in lieu of patches on the line up. They do not always indicate a good player but it is a rough idea of what kind of player you are going against. I also check for anniversary patches. Long term players should be better players. But, it is a rough idea, again.

If the reds have 3 or more emblems it generally is going to be a tough match.

Not always long term player can be better player, sometime they are unable to do better player due disability or limited intelligent, There is people out there do play game, even limited intelligent. Sometime player can't do better vs other player due no matter what because of so called "gift of skill" (basic, they born to be very good player and use those gift very well, something they do not earn but had gift of highly intelligent/skilled in specialist in those area beyond normal humankind's skill. (reason they do not earn because they happen to had good gene/brain and able to use it very well, meanwhile other people do not had those gift, and try best to make most of it, but failed, and handicap, something that most people do not understand behind those gift and non gift very well.

Yes you are right, 2 months ago there was a mode that tracked personal rating above the ships , I dont know why but that mode doesnt exists anymore unfortunatly. Probably modder stoped doing it. I really loved it. Player rating ofc in a ship they were playing.

I really hope they return that again.

Matchmaking monitor is the mod that shows stats.

But for me this is of minor importance since there is many ways for players to boost their stats. If a players has a 65% WR stat wont guarantee that he will be a hard opponent, seen a lot of Unicum/Super Unicum stats players who play like bots in game.

I rather just look at what potential divisions I face and what they play, what ships the rest of the reds play. How many subs, CVs, DDs, which ships can overmatch me which can I overmatch (for example Henri and Golden Lion BLAPPS a Mino thru the bow). Then I try and inform the team if there is something that they should know, for example DD hunting/killing Divs, CV+BB divs etc, new ships/test ships with new gimmicks or radars (like Rhode Island BB with radar) and then I always ping low HP enemys during the whole match to get  them of the board.

I actually hope someone uses such a mod and thinks I'm not a threat because of my stats.  I grin evilly at the thought of that player actually relying on such data as I plot their demise.

Not only this but I see so many " Karens " Warning about the " Great player XXX " in chat and all  that does is help that player get even better because everyone RUNS AWAY from them as soon as they are spotted. 😏

I remember a similar subject coming up years ago.  The 'special' players all said they would look at a person's stats on their own team and then run away and abandon them so they could go play with better players.  It's not really about players on the other team, it's about players on your own team where the effects are the worst.

What they can't see in game is if you are improving; unless they check wows numbers at some point. Why I don't hide mine.

Hahaha... unbeknownst to the enemies, while I hide my stats they remain blissfully unaware how I'm plotting my own demise.
