wait a minute...now changing expendable camos to "can't be sold" status?

WorldofWarships1_13_20244_35_14PM.thumb.jpg.75fb4e4433155af24213d1a13e466935.jpg

many people are holding on to some or most of their camo as a type of 'savings account' they can cash in later.

these (autobot ark & decepticon disguise) were able to be sold untill this last patch.

i did not hear anything about this change...if it was tucked into an article somewhere...BAD - something like this should have a loud & clear announcement.

had i known i would have sold all of 'em, but if this is not a mistake i'm out 2.7 million credits  (60 camos X 45,000 credits)

did this happen to anyone else?

There is a consumable camo rework inbound (next patch). You can convert any consumable camo you have into a permanent camo. You can link that camo to any ship in your port. Once you have converted one, you can apparently then purchase as many further examples as you want. But you need to have at least 1 example of a consumable camo to convert. (I just spent a few million credits on buying exactly 1 copy of every purchasable consumable camo).

I would suspect the thing you have above is tied into this incoming rework.

Also note, they are removing the more camo crates from sale and will be replacing consumable camos in other crates with permanent versions according to the dev blog.

@pepe_trueno from looking at your screenshot of camos versus  @derf  I would guess he has sold more camo (just a guess).  I will point out the one I can see in common, the Autobot Ark. You have 122, and Derf has 30.  Both indicate that they cannot be sold.  If you got any of the Christmas tree tokens and turned them in for camo, these, too, cannot be sold.  The amount you have and from one player to the next will greatly vary in what can or cannot be sold based on prior selling and/or accumulation of camo.

I will add, for example, New Year Sky.  You have 221 in reserve.  If you don't need them, you may want to sell them for the extra credits.

Notice the Autobot camos?  Can't be sold. This is what I am referring to. The consumable camo that comes from collaborations now can't be sold. The rework is changing consumable camos forever. We asked for the option to make consumables into permanents. Many us have asked for it on the old forums. Looks like sometimes wargaming listens. Same thing happened with the Dash commander in the armoury - we asked, and then she was available permanently for 1500 doubloons (the same price as a standard 10 point commander)

Hmm, it's look like some of good stuff and some of bad stuff, I didn't know there would be rework for that, I though it's silly to use camos for short term and not worth cost, but it's worth it to sell it.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see many type of camos but most people prefer credit over temp short term camos that cost credit.

Does the dev blog or other sources indicate any direction one should take, i.e. sell camos that you can, sell those that you can bar a number that corresponds to ones that you want to convert into perma or keep them regardless if you can sell or not.

This is WG you are talking about.

I suppose this depends if you will find some good use for camos later on, or if you prefer credits. I myself need to go through my stocks and see how much silver I could get out of camos I basically will never be using. There are some nice designs I might not sell if they can be turned into permacamos later on.

Well I have mine as a credit stock but have done some selling through the years but I try keep one. Now I have quite a lot again so I am wondering what to do, not that I need credits per se but it is quite a lot of camos now that the prizes have returned (was lowered during the christmas update). I probably sell some of the larger numbers at least and convert the credits to elite xp which I can not get enough of. I am close to 1300 M Credits so I am not starved but 1300 is the upper limit and 1000 the lower limit.

I sold camo stocks over 100 units...  Some collected camo's were over 300 in quantity.  I did NOT eliminate camo's received in case our host pulled what other games have done:  1) they are of no use now........everyone sold them:  2)  We'll keep getting useless camo's as rewards to take away real rewards; and then, OH !  we'll now sell camo's as permanent camo's (that many had a lot of before they sell them...)

Several times over the years has this ^^^^ basic scenario come up !   Always keep what is free because free becomes profit later one when all of the really good ideas are long gone and all a host can do is "clone" profit versus "create" quality content....

Why is anyone keeping camos that 1) don't give any bonus like they used to & 2) they (most of them) look ugly as F.

I've been selling these useless camos off with regularity so I have very few  in inventory. Which reminds me, I will clear out the paltry amounts I do have.

it's like a savings account...

it's essentialy an out of sight out of mind stash for a rainy day...

you are right, selling them at some point in time is the only thing they are good for

& count me in the group that thinks dayglo clown suits as camo is just plain stupid AF

Considering it has been a top priority of WG to "drain" these savings accounts (auctions, salvage,...), it makes sense that there is a transition from "use it OR sell it" to "use it, BUT can't sell it".  A choice removed.  Unfortunately, I like choices.  At the camo rework, I made 340 million silver.  I think WG wanted me to value aesthetics of silly looking camo over the silver value.  WG was wrong, maybe across a big swath of the player base, and are now trying to correct their "error".

Well, this is always a risk when using something for purposes it was not meant for.  WG isn't probably going to be sympathetic for this reason, and it is probably better to liken it to a risky stock option that just got devalued.  Take a risk and hope you don't lose it all on someone else's decisions.

Hmmm, I think they do whatever they can to make player buy with real money in long terms, I noticed many higher tier gave less and less credit, especially operation battle's reward is not great anymore like used to be, almost worthless. to play in co or operation as they nerfed reward battle post, trying forced player to play random or ranked battle mode that some people had no desire to play in due stressful or nasty player in chat room.

I guess it's WG, they try to drive player into PVP while same time encourage player to buy with real money for premium account all the time, unless one are very good player in ship or in the in the general that can make big credit post battle, but many/common player isn't that good, so in turn, more player lost interest in playing game when reward is get worse and worse as time go by, smaller player as time, I think. Unless I'm wrong?

I like player had a choice, rather than forced to do this or that. They shouldn't nerfed reward in coop or operation battle mode, as not everyone want to play PVP or Random/ranked battle due stressful or rude player, some want rest and peaceful playing game but can't play because bad reward coop/operation's post battle. It's not much a choice when one battle mode like coop or Operation mode reward post battle is bad while other like random or Ranked had reasonable reward, more or less.

I mainly like the historic camouflages as they add to the ambiance of the game. However, I do think that some of the solid colors and even some of the pattered camouflages, while not per se historic, still look good on the ships. This goes double for the planes. Some of the camos that look garish on the ships look amazing on the planes. As for purchasing camos, you can get plenty of free doubloons to purchase permacamos for the ships you play the most by just playing the game.
