Aethervox Posted January 12 Posted January 12 A very enjoyable T5 random battle where I found & killed the enemy CV. Disappointing, tho, a weekend T5 battle that had 5 Bots a side. An indication, perhaps, that this game is now on 'life-support'? Not enough Herrings anymore? 20250111_154220_PVSB505-Rio-de-Janeiro_08_NE_passage.wowsreplay

Nevermore135 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Tier V being a ghost town isn’t surprising considering how the MM and the in-game economy work. The wait times at the tier were terrible before WG added the bots. Hardly anyone plays below tier V due to WG’s decision to exclude it from the vast majority of missions, etc. The unique -1/+2 MM (tier IV is a protected tier) means that anyone queuing up for tier V is either going to get pulled into a tier V match full of bots (since few play tier IV, and lots of those that do are still in the new player protected tier I-IV MM pool) or be consistently pulled into tier VI/VII matches. Add in the fact that tier V grinds are still fairly short and the constant funneling of players to higher tiers to populate more popular/lucrative queues, and there is a vicious feadback loop that has been pulling players out of the low tier ecosystem for years now. There simply isn’t much incentive for veteran players to revisit lower tier content. Edited January 12 by Nevermore135 1 1

This indicates the incentives to rush to high tiers (sadly). 1 hour ago, Nevermore135 said: There simply isn’t much incentive for veteran players to revisit lower tier content. Very likely. Thing is, there are many ships that are enjoyable to play in the low tiers & one can avoid horrid reworked CVs & 'Flubs'. Think about that 😁

I haven't watched the replay which was enclosed in the original post. That was my point. OP wants to call it a T5 game, but the fact is that it was mixed-tier or there wouldn't have been a Hosho there. And we know that T4 random matchmaking bringing bots has been a thing for some time. So this is nothing new. 8 hours ago, Aethervox said: & one can avoid horrid reworked CVs & 'Flubs'. If you end up in Hell when you die, Satan will force you to alternate playing Xin Zhong Guo 14 and Sanzang until the end of time. 1

So this is nothing new. Depends upon our labeling criteria for a game, I suppose. If we use the highest tier ship(s) in the game as a criteria, then it was a Tier-5 game. If we use the average tier, some calculations are required. If we simply call it a Tier-4 and Tier-5 game, then some may complain that the label is too long and cumbersome? I figured the title wasn't worth my time to hair-split. But, here we are. 😄
Daniel_Allan_Clark Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Tier 5 only games featuring mostly bots are the norm on NA. Does not need to have tier 4 ships in it to be the case.
clammboy Posted January 12 Posted January 12 For me if I'm playing a tier 5 ship then it's a tier 5 game and that's what I would call it like the OP did. 2
Pugilistic Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Berserker moment: After the ReworkTM I went into T4 thinking I might get relief from CVs, and instead got three per side. CV hunts from game inception are a folly, but I killed all three enemy CVs without doing a single HP of damage to anything else. This was all human players IIRC. 2 1
Wolfswetpaws Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Well, I needed to sortie my Hosho to participate in earning stars for my Naval Battles grid, anyway. 🙂 20250112_100942_PJSA104-Hosho_04_Archipelago.wowsreplay Edited January 12 by Wolfswetpaws 2

Majority had to be T5s. My point simply was I had an enjoyable battle because I ended up finding & sinking the reworked CV. Review the replay, if you wish. I despise reworked CVs (as you may well know). I am a RTS CV supporter 🙂. 1
Aethervox Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 (edited) A further aside, back in RTS CV times, I would sometimes say in 'all chat' while playing my Hosho, " Hey Sailor Boys, come on over so I can service you with my 'Ho'." Yes, that was obvious juvenile humour. No one (as far as I know) ever objected & I would get an occaisional 'lol'. Edited January 12 by Aethervox 1

Gratz (& in random too, I see). My record is 7 sinkings while sailing the Hosho. Edited to add: I found the screen shot. Posted about it in the old forum, too. Quote Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) [Narrator] The scene is the top floor of the Port's Administration Building. Adjutant of the Port Fubuki Shirakami (the 1st.) finishes reading an incoming mission report and then begins squealing with unparalleled glee and excitement. [Shirakami] Aaaaiiiiiiieeeeeeee! Sugoiiiiiii~! Arpha! AAARRRRPPPPHHHHHAAAAA! [Shirakami] ::: leaping up from her chair & desk and bouncing with joy towards the Alpha of the Port's office doorway ::: [Wolfswetpaws] ::: Rises from his chair and strides to meet Shirakami at the doorway of his office ::: [Wolfswetpaws] What!?? What is it? [Shirakami] AAARRRRPHAAA! Arpha! Arpha! ahem. Alpha! They did it! They did it! They did it! [Wolfswetpaws] Who? Did what? [Shirakami] The Hosho has set a Fleet Record! They sunk SEVEN SHIPS in their last Random Battle! They not only earned a Kraken Unleashed award twice in seven days, they SET A FLEET RECORD FOR SHIPS SUNK In A Random BATTLE!!!! [Wolfswetpaws] HUZZZAAAAH!!!! [Shirakami] YAAAAYYYY!!! [Wolfswetpaws] Adjutant! Get the Entertainment Committee and alert the Press Officer! We're gonna have a Port-wide and Celebration! [Shirakami] HAAAIIII! [Shirakami] ::: Bounces and skips with joy and sets the chain of events in to motion ::: [Narrator] The scene of the top floor of the Administration Building fades and is replaced by a scene aboard the Hosho. The perspective is from ahead and above the bow of the Aircraft Carrier as she is sailing for home, with seven crew standing proudly at the bow of the flight-deck, each holding an up-raised broom. The sun is setting and casts a golden glow upon the Hosho and her crew. Quote Edited to add: This could not have been made possible without my valued teammates and our worthy adversaries. Kudos to each of them. It was a great battle. Edited January 12 by Wolfswetpaws 1

For me, RTS Hosho; 272 battles 4 sunk 53% WR & yes, I do have a reworked Hosho*; 24 battles 2 sunk 50% WR * I only have T4 reworked CVs in my EU account & these are rarely played & only to do NBs (otherwise, I do not play reworked CVs). 1
mashed68 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I too was surprised by a half bot team in a randoms tier 5 game last night. Watched trenlass take a full secondary oklahoma into battle for lol's and tried it myself. It is indeed fun btw.... 2
