WildWind84 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Hi, can someone play few battle with Kidd? Last night I had with Kidd weird shells trajectory (few battles in a row and then I have gave up from and switch to Massa), like I play Flint or something worse. 1 time in ranked also happend me with Massa, but only with 1 salvo. I am not sure if it was on my side (game, internet, PC etc...) or it is bug? Can someone check that please? Tnx.

Wolfswetpaws Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Short answer = ballistics matters. Slow projectiles with a "rainbow" trajectory being fired at a distant target will have a long flight-time and need to be carefully aimed. Or, if the guns can fire rapidly, then aim them like a water hose. 🙂
HogHammer Posted January 10 Posted January 10 7 hours ago, WildWind84 said: Can someone check that please? Tnx. As stated above, the Kidd, Flint, and even the Gearing all share the exact same projectile - 38 Mk. 12 (although different mounts). In each, the initial shell velocity is 792 m/s. Due to the initial velocity, you will see more of an arc as the shell extends to maximum range. At full range, the arc would resemble that of a rainbow. For a flatter arch, you would need a much higher initial shell velocity, such as a Neustrashimy, which is often compared to tongue-in-cheek railguns by players. The Neustrashimy initial velocity is 950 m/s and has a much flatter shell arc at range. The difference in flight time is considerable, too. At 12 km, the three US ships take 11.2 seconds to reach their target, while the RU example needs only 7.2. With the time to target and high arc shells, correct aiming (targeting ship) of the Kidd, Flint, and Gearing takes a little practice and anticipation as to how your red opponent will react, such as slow down, speed up, or turn hard to port, for example. Like any ship in the game, it just takes understanding the capabilities of your ship and, of course, practice. 1
