Any of the ships worth buying with the 30% off coupon?

As a player who hasn't been in the game the last couple of years, was just curious if any of the Premium shop ships are worth buying right now? I have a 30% off coupon that expires tomorrow, so wondering if any of these ships are a must have?

I guess it is an anniversary discount coupon?

If so you buy doubloons for real money and use the 30% coupon (remember you need to apply it) and then buy a ship in the armory for those doubloons  and use the ingame 25% coupon (double discount)

As a player who has answered questions like this numerous times while you've been away ...  Just kidding.  🙂 

Seriously, though.  It would help to know what you've already got in your port, or what types of ships you enjoy playing.

Personally, if I have a ship on my wish-list, then using a coupon only makes sense.
If, for whatever reason, I'm either out of credits/coal/steel/doubloons or am not thrilled with the available ships, then I'll simply wait for future ships to be introduced into the game.

So, what ships are you looking at, and for what reasons do they catch your eye?  🙂

I play mainly DD's and BB's, I don't really care for cruisers or Carriers. I wasn't looking at anything in particular, I think most of the premium shop ships are not in my current inventory, so was just curious if any of them were on the top of the mysterious must have list

Depends upon your preferred tier of play.
Tier-8 premium Battleships I'm fond of include the Kii, the Constellation, the Tirpitz, the Brandenburg-B, and the Massachusetts.
Each has their own "flavor".
Tier-9 coal/premium BB's I like include the Iwami (for coal), the Georgia, the Daisen, and the Jean-Bart.

Drop down to Tier-6, and I like the Mutsu, the Ise (a hybrid ship, which may clash with your avoidance of CV's), and the Dunkerque.

The wiki-pages and the LittleWhiteMouse ship reviews may help with evaluating which ships tickle your fancy.

For me Cossack is a must ship, best tier 8 dd in the game.

But for you pick one that you want to play and you know you will spend most time in

I guess you could say that the 'popular ships' in the current meta work for most people, but not necessarily for everyone. For me, after a longish while, for instance, I noticed that the Marblehead is still a pretty good tier V cruiser (even if you don't like to play cruisers like I generally don't).

Now, there are the LWM reviews we have a collection of. Just remember that these reviews have not been updated, so not everything in them is correct in terms of the changed mechanics and meta, but they will give you a general idea so you can compare your own preferred play style and skill set against what the ship is based on.

For me (though I am an ops main, not really into PvP), there are two clear winners when it comes to currently available armory BBs and (torp)DDs for dubs:

BB: Iwami

Iwami has both good main guns and good secondaries, as well as 20K damage 20km range torps for the occasional *what the doodle* moment on the enemies side. And her turrets have excellent firing angles, no need to show much broadside. And as a tier9 prem, she is a top notch money maker. Imho there is no competition among currently available dub BBs at all, at least for ops. In my uneducated opinion also for PvP.

(torp)DD: Jäger

Nothing beats putting a dozen 95 knot torps with 12 km range into the water every 65 seconds. And with four launchers, you can time them so that there will be sticky floodings. And with Swirsky as commander, you can drop the reload below a minute and then some (getting 8 torp hits repeatedly is not that much of a challenge. It is like Swirsky was made for Jäger).

If tier9 is not your cup of tea or too expensive, at tier8 it is not as clear, but the best available BBs imho are Brandenburg(secs) and Kii(main guns). The only DD I would fancy is Lo Yang. I guess Cossack would be a good gun DD, but I don't fancy gun DDs outside the Akizuki line.

Potentially, maybe, Cossack might be a better choice as a gun DD for people who don't like to play gun DD's.

If it works on doubloons, buy a bunch of those (as previously mentioned); you then have time to meditate upon the matter of which premiums to spend it (or some of it) on...

IMO, if you dig DDs, the key premium ones are Lo Yang, Cossack, and Kidd; if I had to pick just one, it'd be Cossack.

Any ship you don't have & want is worth a 30% discount - just have the resources to equip it & upgrade it to the max before you motor into battle with it. 😁
