How does one counter smaland in ranked?

Every time there is a smaland in ranked, I don't have any idea how to counter it. 

I'm in a DD, I spot it i get radared and chunked hp down to 50%, I don't spot it will roll over the entire flank and cap
Earlier in a black I had to face the smaland alone and no cruiser to help me since they were dead, 
Smoking is no use since radar, I counter radar they have already run away with engine boost.

I tried to bait out the radar before countering with smoke and radar but again ran away.

I just don't get how the hell can I even play against this DD with a captain that has a single braincell behind the helm

Get a teammate to go on a kill mission with you. Go with a secondary BB. Once spotted, hide behind them lol.

Bring a silver bullet. Like a Kleber or smth. Some armored destroyer it can't damage well with HE maybe. I'd try Khabarovsk. Or even Elbing.
