There's no word around as far as I could see. Take note, though, that since the Lesta/WG split, the traditional holiday season no longer extends as far as it used to be, only ending early to mid January IIRC.

If the patch ends when expected (Jan 8/9, depending on the the server) the holiday patch will still run through Orthodox Christmas (Jan 7). The last few years the NY/Christmas patch has started unusually early (especially this year, where it started at US Thanksgiving at the end of Nov), but I’m not convinced that isn’t just the way the calendar worked out (this patch is usually 5-6 weeks) given that the standard patch length (28 days/4 weeks) never perfectly lines up with months on the calandar.

While it is true in the past that NY/Christmas updates would run later into January, that was usually accompanied by said update beginning in or around mid December. I recall one such update starting only a few days before Christmas some years back and running through the very end of January/beginning of February.

It is up, but in my opinion is not as important as the previous one, as it involves spending gold:

 

• −50% to the cost in Doubloons of common and special economic bonuses
• −50% to the cost in Doubloons of Port slots
• Convert Elite Commander XP at the cost of 1 Doubloon for 35 Free XP
• Convert Ship XP at the cost of 1 Doubloon for 35 Free XP

 

More important is the 200% XP for the first victory.
