Ranked rewards

As I don't normally enjoy high tier gameplay, I usually try to stay in Bronze in ranked. So that leaves me wondering, in silver and gold, do the rewards get bigger? For instance in bronze you can get 400 doubloons per season [or whatever they call them before it resets again]. So does going threw silver also get 400 doubloons, or more?

In Bronze you can get 600 dubs and in Silver 800 (maybe this is changed as now you can get 200 research points instead of 200 dubs, which would mean both leagues give 600 dubs, not sure). Similar with Still, in Silver you get 1000 compared to 800 in Bronze.

Yes, the rewards are higher in silver and higher again in gold. Depending on what tier bronze and silver are, sometimes I’ll just settle for bronze rewards, other seasons I’ll go to silver. Been a while since I really pushed ranked since clan battles provides plenty of steel and I’m finding Ops/Asymetric/Convoy Escort much more relaxing than ranked/randoms.

You do get more rewards at higher leagues, namely (compared to bronze, per sprint):

-200 steel, 3 of each green economic booster and 200 RPs in silver

-400 steel, 200 doubloons, 5 of each green economic booster and 800 RPs in gold

You get 200 steel and a port slot for qualifying for a higher league as well, although it's only once per season.

When reaching rank 1, you get better containers too. They contain the same things, but in higher amounts (for example, 10% chance of 2500 coal in a bronze container, but it's 10% chance of 12500 coal in a gold container). They contain coal, free XP, commander XP and economic bonuses...

Personally, and like many people apparently, I find gold league to be extremelly frustrating and unfun, so no reward can make up for it. It takes many more battles, too.

I keep at bronze or silver, depending on tiers played. For this season for example, I stayed in bronze. I could have done all sprints in silver, but playing tier X ranked for 5 sprints in a row wasn't worth the additional rewards to me (if ranking out of both bronze and silver on the first sprint, it would have been 2000 steel, 600 doubloons, 1000 RPs and 15 of each green booster, plus the contents of the silver league container: mostly blue economic boosters).

Note that this season has an additional fifth sprint, over the usual four.

A strategy I often use when I pick bronze for the season, is to try to rank out of both bronze and silver during the last sprint. This way I have a shot at earning more stuff, without the risk of locking myself at a league I don't find fun to play. When I pick silver, I rank out of both bronze and silver during the first sprint, for more rewards.

In short: higher leagues give you more stuff, but not enough if you're not going to enjoy playing it.

Yes, higher leagues do provide more steel and doubloons, but also the grind is longer. Many players tend to agree that Silver is the sweet spot, but sticking to Bronze isn't a bad proposition either. When you start playing affects the enjoyment and the overall strategy, though: early in the season, it makes sense to somewhat rush to Silver, leaving behind most of the pool of... let's say "generally expected performance and behaviour" players, hence getting better matches, be them wins or losses; later on, all leagues are tinted and battles become more of a lottery, so minimising frustration is more length-of-grind dependent.

Salute.

Silver League’s “value@ over Brinze has diminished sometime this year. It still gives 200 more steel than Bronze, but it gives the same amount of doubloons.

Bronze gives 600 now (2x200 for wins, 200 for achieving Rank 1)

Silver gives exactly the same, but you need 3 more wins before you reach the point if earning doubloons.

This season, Silver wins have been hard to come by (for me).  It just tajes too much time. I liked ranked, but I also like to break away and get into different tiers and ships, do what few grinds and regrinds I’m doing, play some old favorites. The ranked slog keeps me from that.

Oh man of infinite wisdom, you are correct.

But then I don't get everyones personal interaction with said rewards and the effort to earn them.

You can actually check out for yourself in the ranked menu, try to find out yourself:

Silver.thumb.png.e4e85d697b75bfaec834fb4362583625.png

You get an additional 200 gold for Rank 1 in each league.

But lately, since every grandma and her dog are playing ranked... Qualifications (meaning you must win 6 games in a row) have become a pain in the ass.

You don't have to win six games in a row.  You keep the stars if you do well, and if you lose a game you can still make up for it.  For example you can win two games, lose one + keep a star, win three more, lose one, win two more and you are done.  I have gotten into gold this season to pick up the steel for Bourgogne, and it was nothing compared to ranking out in early days to get Jolly Roger flag, now that was royal pain in the neck.

It’s not “win six in a row” at all.

1. It’s “win six more than you lose”, unless…

2. …unless you save stars along the way. Or lose stars when you have none.

3. To qualify for Silver requires only five.
