I Wonder If This Could Be Given A Secondary Build Or Even An AA Setup

I was perusing through the Armoury and checked out a couple of ships, a particular one of interest had me wondering what would be the best build for it.

Spoiler

It has quiet a lot of guns.

Maybe, is the gun range more than detection?

Unless this is some WG special edition, the Archerfish should have 1x4 inch deck gun, and for AA armament one Bofors 40mm  and one Oerlikon 20mm.

Theoretically, I think, they could be 'dual purpose' but does WoWS allow for something like that? Here's the WoWS Wiki page....

Are those AA guns on WoWS Archerfish just decorative dummy guns?

Until the Captain's Skills become available for Submarine Captains, you'll have a difficult time setting-up a secondary-battery build for the Archerfish.  😉

The wiki-page for the Archerfish doesn't even list an AA capability.
The smaller guns are "decorative", even though they could be used for Anti-aircraft defense during her "real life" career.

Whether or not her 5-inch guns can traverse high enough for AA work, is a good question.
Personally, I suspect the answer is "no".

Yes, the 4 or 5 big guns pointing straight up are devastating for planes...

Surely that would be a big no no. Mustn't have that.

The Archerfish originally had a four-inch-fifty-caliber deck gun. This was an old late 1800s design and, since there were no aircraft when it was developed, was not an AA-capable gun. The 40 mm Bofors and 20 mm Oerlikon it had were more than capable AA platforms in WWII though. In fact, they are still used today.

That said, the pre-war 5"/25 caliber AA guns removed from battleships when they were refitted with dual-purpose 5"/38 caliber guns were converted for submarine use by late 1943, while a new purpose-built variant for submarines was available in mid-1944. Did the the Archerfish later have one of these AA guns mounted? Yes; in fact, it had two.

Archerfish (SS-311) -- Installed are two 5"/25 cal deck guns, a 40 mm single gun mounted on her forward gun deck and a 20 mm gun on the after deck.
