Ah, the New Year's dawn breaks with a yawn,
As I sit at my desk, quill in hand, poised to compose.
The cacophony of war, a distant pawn,
Cannot conquer the fortress of my creative pose.
My mind, once a battlefield for digital foes,
Now a playground for whimsy and humor so light,
Where the only conflict that ever grows
Is deciding whether to write by day or by night.

The sirens of progress and virtual gold,
Their seductive songs to my senses once did thrall.
Yet, I've traded their fleeting allure for bold
Narratives and verses that stand tall.
The developers' wheels may spin and unfold
Their tapestries of digital avarice and greed,
But my heart's compass is steadfast and cold,
Guided by the muse's pure, unseen steed.

With parchment and ink, I'll weave tales of yore,
Where heroes aren't born of pixels, but of wit and might.
In the world of words, there's so much more
To conquer than any virtual fight.
Each line a bastion, each word a door
To escapades that no game can ever repeat.
So here's to the scribes, the poets of lore,
May our joy in stories never retreat.

And as the calendar pages do flip and leap,
I'll laugh at the game's relentless march of time.
For in the realms of imagination, we can't be beat,
Where the only loot that matters is a good rhyme.
