GandalfTehGray Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Not sure how many people visit regularly on mobile but been having a strange issue lately. Usually if I post or find an interesting thread I'll open it in a new tab and leave it open for up to 2 days for responses. This last week though if a thread has multiple pages it keeps reverting back to the previous page. So if I was on page 2 when I swap back to the tab it has went back to page 1. Or if it was page 10 it goes back to 9. This throws off my page placement and leads to more effort than desired to try and find new posts. Anyone else have this problem? May just be a cache issue but wanted to check! 1 1

IIRC, didn't we experience something like this originally, at least I did, but that was on PC because I've only ever used a PC to read the forum. 1

I don't use a mobile device for DevStrike, but a surprising number do. I'll run this up the chain of command (expertise). 1 1
I_cant_Swim_ Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Thanks, I'll delegate the issue to @nobody. He can't pass it further, haha. We should hear from him soon. 1
nobody Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Yes master. "There's not a problem that I can't fix 'Cause I can do it in the mix" Test bed set up Experiment running Final results in 48 hrs.
nobody Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Initial results. On day 0, tabs opened from DevStrike thread pages (n) do not redirect to n-1 multiple pages do not redirect, using Firefox on iPhone. 1

Most browsers save previously-loaded web pages to a cache in order to bring them up faster, only updating specific information that has been changed since the last visit. Sometimes the new information doesn't get automatically detected though. Try refreshing the web page. If that doesn't work, clear your browser's cache.
I_cant_Swim_ Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 yes, so far we find no addressing issue so it is likely browser cache settings 1
nobody Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 ok, so... @GandalfTehGray maybe you want to see this. This test was done once only, so bear that in mind. Spoiler Method I used Mozilla Firefox on an iPhone, and used the thread: "What were your greatest achievements today", which has 64 pages. I opened and saved two tabs, one on page 63 of 64 url is www.devstrike.net/topic/1339-what-were-your-greatest-gaming-achievements-today/page/63/ one on page 64 of 64. url is www.devstrike.net/topic/1339-what-were-your-greatest-gaming-achievements-today/page/64/ on day zero (tabs freshly created), both tabs worked as expected. on day 1, both tabs had page= 63. Conclusion: after 1 test, it would appear that a url page redirect was indeed rewritten. TLDR Your observation appears correct - I could indeed reproduce the effect you saw. Assuming further tests validate the findings then this is odd, as it means a url page redirect is rewritten at some point, under the conditions used. The test is being conducted again, but what can I say - Nice catch! 3 1

Can I add Supertester for dev strike now 😛 10 hours ago, Wolfswetpaws said: I'm yer huckleberry for pun-ishment. 😉 I believe this is where I'm supposed to insert a gif or YouTube link 😛
