This xmas feels like WG is rummaging through my pockets like a hobo

Pick your path:

Spend $80 for 80 gifts to get a pity drop

Spend $75 on Mega presents to get a pity drop.

Giga monetized battle pass with two stages (double dip on our wallets) with copy paste ships

Dockyard doubloon starter packs to get a copy paste ship.

At this point WG is just demanding $80 from the player.

You don't need any of those. I didn't realize the other BP part costs separately though. I suppose I shouldn't have paid for it. Whatever.

Yeah, the amount of Cash WG wants for some BS Mega-Meeeh copy-pasta pixels is baffling to me. Its like trying to sell snow to an Eskimo for 500 Euros ..... but then again ... there are apparently some Eskimos going for those "deals". 90 Euros for a shitty T9 Premium?! I can get at least 2 other entire AAA PC games for that?! This is just pants on head stupid pricing, for something you dont even get to own .... in a dying game...

At least back in the day you could get some value for you're money in this game, now days its just sheiit.

You forgot:

Build a freaking huge fleet, get plenty of festive certificates, coal and steel and buy the ships you want for no money outlaid.

Couple of other things:

I think I've opened... oh, let's say fifteen mega crates? Two ships out of those. Haven't paid a cent for them; I got them because of the size of my fleet. You may be underestimating your chances, although that result is possible. But ships aren't the only valuable thing in there.

Teng She (first battle pass ship) is not a direct copy-paste of Sinop - she has some VERY important differences: more accurate at range, spotter plane which boosts that, and unlimited DCP are the main ones.

Thanks for this information: I was wondering how close she was, but was also far too lazy to go and search for the information...

I've played her a couple of times in Coop, but not enough to get much of a feel for her yet.

The answer is easy...just don't buy it if you think it's not worth the money.

Let's not bring size into this discussion.

It's not my fault if you have Fleet Envy. 😈

You say copy pasta, I say alternative version of a class with differing play styles. WV44 being a great example vs colorado. I'm very excited for the lugnut coming up, looks very fun and only costs me 3500 dubs [all free from crates or ranked] for a tier 7 premium plus a bunch of other crap that goes with that line.

Now, I've only gotten boosters and flags with a couple ports and one coal drop from crates this year, so yeah that's a let down.

Dockyard ship looks fun as well, but the grinding needed is too much for me.

Overall yeah, its not the greatest, but we were spoiled with good stuff last year.

The title of this topic made me laugh with the visual image 😄. While I agree the event pass is a little too monetized, you can still get a ton of stuff this update without spending a dime. The only mega containers I'm going to be able to get are the 4x free ones from snowflakes and 1x from the event pass, but even with just those the rewards have been nice. The free small containers have also worked out well. We all wish things could be cheaper, but just enjoy what you can.

WG monetization tricks don't work on me.  I got me some fun ships the good old way, without paying.  Two latest additions are Kléber and Bourgogne, those are pretty fun with 21 point Auboyneau.

Went back to WoT to get my commander Jason Statham there. I am playing the WoWs christmas event in parallel, very relaxing in comparison. Plundering the two advent calendars also takes time. So I have fun and no spare time to get into spending any money.

Yes, I know, it's kindergarten for the old sea dogs, but it's still quite nice

and Bourgogne

Although Bourgogne is by now a somewhat older ship for me to kick off this point with, it must be said that WG is doing a quite reasonable job of keeping the freemiums coming (e.g. putting out Stord 43, Anhalt and Scharn 43 for coal this year). Sure, some of them (Shinano, Archerfish when they eventually go permanently into the Armory) might not be to everyone's tastes and some others (e.g. Prins van Oranje, Georg Hoffmann*) might be asking an inordinate amount of relatively-difficult-to-obtain resources on short notice, but they're there.

The free-to-play player today has a vast array of premium ships available to them, some of which used to be exclusively for money or doubloons (and I know, because I bought some of them). Compared to the way things were when I started playing, this is one of the things which causes me to cut WG a LOT of slack for some of the sales pitches they pull.

I'm not counting Chikuma II here because she's been offered already in a different context and I feel that this muddies the waters sufficiently to put her in her own category.

All of that "spending" is optional.  The player decides what to do, or not do, with their money.  🙂

That's a (not so) deepfake.  I know from reliable sources that there are no playable paddlewheelers in da game Smile_glasses.gif.ad42a1d7c6a3da5c4b37a0

It's not about reliably portraying my port; it's about sending a message:

^^^ this, 100%
I don't feel any pressure or see any demands for $$$.

I did recently use a b-day coupon to replenish my doubloons coffers as they were running a bit low, and in turn used those to purchase the only thing I really desire at this point.   A bit of premium time to help with my meandering on tech tree movement and captain levels.  And also picked up the bottom half of the event pass because I thought the Teng She looked pretty darn cool.  Didn't recognize it as being a version of the Sinop, but that's okay, it looks darn cool!   Simple as that.  Oh, and the extra Santa's containers yielded Nueve De Julio.  Not something that would ever be on my acquisition list radar, but hey, it's welcome to my 300-ish fleet.

Anyway, haven't felt like spending any money on the Santa's gifts; my fleet is large enough to keep me quite content.
