tangofan Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Since Operations were extended to T9, T10 (and superships), they have been my goto-mode for playing for fun and I play coop only to finish particular missions. My favorite high-tier ships so far for Operations are Schlieffen and Salem. Schlieffen is very chill to play and her secondaries help to rake the damage numbers up. Salem is a little more hectic (for me anyway), but her superheal really shines, when the bots try to farm you down with HE. And of course her damage output is very good. So what are your favorite T9/T10 ships in Operations and why? 2
mashed68 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Los Andes because I'm grinding her. Otherwise I don't like higher tier ships in OP's. 1
Frostbow Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 3 hours ago, tangofan said: So what are your favorite T9/T10 ships in Operations and why? Operations is primarily about DPM. The more damage you can inflict, the better. Schlieffen, Libertad Salem, Des Moines Jinan, Minotaur, Smolensk Jager I've tried almost all of my Tier Xs in Operations but I keep on going back to the ones I listed above. For Tier IX, I had a ton of fun with the Jager. 1
Daniel_Allan_Clark Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Operations is best at tiers 8 and below, IMO. 1

destruktomatik Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Schlieffen with Lutjens and a full secondary build is a bit nuts Worcester with radar mod on Cherry Blossom = profit Venezia works very well in ops that have a lot of DDs and lightly armored ships to feast on Des Moines works very well, as does Napoli. If you just want to watch the world burn - Forrest Sherman 2

Admiral_Karasu Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 @Yedwy I sense a disturbance in the spelling.
Kruzenstern Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I prefer tier 9 because they make the most money and the bot HP don't get too ridiculous. Fave ships are probably Iwami, Navarin, Alaska and Jager (Jager sucks in some ops, but it is very fun and totally owns Aegis). Honorable mention for Michelangelo, also a real beast. Any BB with great secondaries is good, as are most cruisers that can pen Yoshino belts at 10+km range (i.e. large cruisers). Most powerful would probably be the two you already use, plus the Libertad and Napoli. And if you include superships (that will cost you silver instead of gaining it), the record DMP ship is of course Annapolis. I try to drive lots of different ships for the experience though. 1
Guest Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 (edited) Libertad, hands down. Sends out a blistering barrage of HE with main guns and secondaries, switch to AP when you get some broadsides, but basically burn the bots down, especially bot piñata BBs. Scores of 400-500 fairly frequent so high cost for T10 repairs not an issue. I've also used Los Andes and my favourite go-to BB, yes the Ipiranga, but the Libertad does markedly better. I also see the Schlieffen, as usual, doing well--she is the ship du jour in Brawls with her torps but those don't have the impact in Operations that good secondaries have. That said I've seen some brilliant DD play in Operations (and numerous duds), especially in the Jäger. Some T10 cruisers, their names escape me just now, can also do extremely well. Players in these ships know all the Operations scenarios very well and position themselves accordingly in advance of the bots appearing. A fairly common result, and this was a defeat: Edited December 6, 2024 by Stauffenberg44
Tread_Head57 Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 First and foremost, whatever ship I’m grinding XP on (with blue booster, ops is great). Question on Ops…is there still a higher credit modifier for damage to higher tier ships (say a tier IX premium damaging a super ship)? 1
Silence_CN Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I usually don't like tier IX & X in Operations. The only exceptions being Azuma (for being a money maker), Austin (yeah I know...) and Worcester which is really good. Jäger too of course. 🙂 But I mainly play at tier VI / VII/ VIII and for this : Brandenburg for its secondaries, Shchors for its abaility to set fires and, above all Irian : this one is a monster. I recently tried the Weimar too and it was a good experience. 1

I was just browsing through the wiki pages looking for an exact answer to your good question. While I didn't find a direct answer, I did find pieces of information in multiple articles which explain how earning credits and/or XP works. My interpretation is that ... 1. A higher tier ship is worth more XP & Credits for earnings calculation than a lower tier ship. 2. A player's earnings depend upon how much percentage of the damage (to sink a ship) they inflicted. Inflict 50% while a teammate inflicts the other 50% of the damage required to sink a ship and each of you will get half of the reward. 3. It is possible my research failed to find something relevant. https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Economy https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Base_Earnings https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Scenarios 1
Asym Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Ok, I need to be up front and say that I play 90% of my Operations with close friends I have know for decades... So, please consider what I suggest with that in mind. I have a role in the cruiser realm and the ships below "fits that role" Yodo. And, her lower tier sisters as well. Why Yodo: She's an AA ship (Herme's produces 30+ planes...... 6.9 Range. Rated at 88. DFAA and Fighter.) She's a Torpedo platform (fast loading (76 secs) and 15 distance, 66 kts with four by five internal mounts (better protected.) She's a DD's worst dream that has great range and accuracy ( six by three (18) 150 at 12.5 seconds) Well, she's pretty well balanced for ops or ASB's !

I think it is all about the percentage of damage you inflict. I could be wrong though. What consistently works for me is sinking destroyers. The more, the better. Gives high Base XP, which in turn leads to higher S/C/FXP.

Before WG opened Operations to Tier VIII and above, Leander and Fiji were my top two most played ships in Operations. Fiji when it is Narai week, Leander for the rest. Those were good old days. LOL

Exactly this. ↑ The sheer amount of ships (with their strengths and weaknesses) that can be played in Operations provide a hugely dynamic PVE experience. For instance, a torpedo DD can in Cherry Blossom can take the direct route to the enemy Yoshino and Clausewitz and stealth torp them while the main body of the fleet are still wrapping up their defense of the marine garrisons. However, if your teammates don't know how to play, the 'easy' part quickly becomes an exciting and challenging game to snatch that Victory from the jaws of defeat.

Daniel_Allan_Clark Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Oh, someone mentioned the Napoli and I realized that I hadn't tried mine in ops yet... For me, I love playing my Brandenburg at tier 8 right now. I used to enjoy playing CV in Ops at tier 8...but with the tier 9 teammates dragging in grouped up super ships...its less effective than it used to be. If I want a challenge, I play my Haarlem... 1
