2024 Snowflakes Progress Thread (PVE)

Well, I am a day late starting the annual snowflake progress thread. Sorry. Yesterday was super busy for me with IRL stuff (ie; a female friend who doesn't take no for an answer when she wants to go off to do things LOL) and while I got a decent jump on flakes I didn't have time to do the thread. Just finished my 1st tiers worth of flakes so decided this is a good time.

As far as strategy goes, I am repeating what I did in this year's anniversary event. I truly believe it is the most efficient way for Co-op completion of a large fleet since WG changed how the flake events work. I always would start at the high tiers and work down when it was 300 BXP -OR- Win but now with the tiered BXP system, and low tier being easier to hit the BXP bar, I have reversed that. I now start at T5 and use the bonuses earned to knock flakes off high tier ships. 2-3 games at T5/T6 easily reaches the 1000 BXP bar for bonus flakes AND it also knocks the flakes off the ships played in 1 game vs having to play 2 games at least for a high tier ship. Just overall more efficient even if I prefer to play the higher tier ships.

So, my 62 T5's are now done. Those games netted me 136 flakes so far (based on divide by 7 it should be 133 or 140 but I have used 136, with none left, so???). Between what I have played so far, and using the bonus flakes, I have...

  • All Subs and CV's = done (at all tiers - CV's are hard to get good BXP in Co-op so I use bonuses for them, and I only have Subs for flakes I don't play them)
  • SuperShips done (21)
  • T10's about 2/3rds done (68)
  • T8's a small dent (27 - just the Subs and CV's)
  • T6's got a few (13 - just the Subs and CV's)
  • T5's are done (I only used 7 bonuses the rest of the 62 were all played)

On to T6's and I will work on finishing T10 then go one to T9. I am hoping T6's finish T10 and T9 but we will have to see.

16 MEga Gifts resulting in 3 ships, Picardie, Jupiter '41 and Rodney. 30 days Premium came from somewhere, I also got three containing silver which pissed me off. 3 Gold Chests each contained red bonuses. Bunch of other stuff too. Going to work through the Supers and get Lauria with my steel and the coupon.

I am about halfway done. All tier 11s, 10s, most tier 9s, all subs, all carriers, and most of my BBs. Did those by just playing all my tier 5 and 6 cruisers. When the next Dockyard mission activates, will use my premium DDs and those that I am grinding to complete the DD mission along with my tier 7 cruisers.

Someone remind me next year to skip playing Canaris and Mysore. Took me 3 matches to finally get a 250 game in each one...

I still have nearly 200 to clear.

BTW for anyone that needs a reminder, playing tier 6 Operations is super awesome. I forgot how much fun they were. Used my La Gasoline and had a blast. Even ended up at the top of the scoreboard and that one match cleared 7 snowflakes and short just a small amount to clear 6 more flakes. It also reminded me why my pennant flying, 21 point captains were assigned to tier 6 cruisers.

Nice progress.

For me, I'd have to guess about 90% (not complete🤬

How do you get these percentages?... In any case, I'm progressing much much slower.

Percent complete = (Snowflakes Achieved + Credits)/Total Ships

Only 77 more ships with snowflakes to get done. 5 are BBs, the rest are cruisers and DDs of tiers 5-7.  All my steel is collected leaving me with 35k of that plus what you get from the Battle Pass so I will be able to afford a steel ship. Just a shame there isn't anything I want.

I should be done with snowflakes tomorrow, possibly Thursday. Depends on how much I want to play.

Ok I am SO sick of this already. UGH!

Hit the T6's today and made good progress.

  • 38 T6's played (35 T6's to go)
  • Used bonuses to knock flakes off (once again the #'s don't add up but it is what I did so?)...
    • All my T9's (97)
    • Some T8's (6)

I have 226 ships left to do, of my 587 that qualify for flakes. Just T6-T8 left now and I will be done. Lord help me.

Closing in on the end. Would have finished today but my friend dragged me off for most of the afternoon for "Christmas stuff" and to see Wicked so that took like 5 hours of the day on that. But I managed to finish up my T6's (49 games) and the bonuses I earned finished off the rest of my T8's (130) + 2 T7's. So all I have left are the rest of my T7's (86) and I am done. I should finish tomorrow no sweat barring my friend dragging me off somewhere again (she doesn't understand I have important WOWS stuff to do LOL). I have about had it with flakes let me tell you.

Wrapped up this morning for my comparatively small fleet (166 snowflake ships). Got 27 Santa containers and from these got the Cheshire and some of the more typical free stuff. I was thinking during the grinding process through this fleet that there were a couple of ships that made me wonder why I do not play them more and a whole lot more that well reminded me exactly why I never (or to the minimum extent possible) play them. Surprising that some of these ships were left in the terrible state they are in.

only have 12 more tier 10's (33 down).  But a lot of other stuff yet to go.

Posted

Nov 30th: Started with 522 ships in port.

Dec 1st: Added Chi T7 BB Teng She and RN T8 CV Indomitable from non-snowflake events.

Dec 6th: Have finished all 'snowflakes'

Booty collection still sort of ongoing thru event pass but so far;

One big crare gave me some dubs (500?), lots of CXP and 5 new ships added;

Fr T6 CA Montcalm, RN T7 BB Nelson, Fr T8 Picardie, Sp T8 Numancia & Euro T9 Jaeger.

Not going to complain as RNG never put a new sub to rust dockside. 🙂

530 flakes dusted, 21k steel, 193k coal, 17 mega crates and 2 gift crates. I don't think I've dusted all my flakes for several years. This year's 7 flakes per 1000 BXP for 600 ships or more was a great help. Usually I'd get the major stuff and the steel and then my interest would wane.

Also got enough STEEL that when using the rebate coupon was able to get the

I'm steadily knocking off between 8 and 16 per day.  As I'm not working the dockyard past section 8 for the tier 5 boat, this slow and steady plan will get me there in plenty of time.

I'm running enough boats to get all the event pass stuff without delay while knocking off at least 8 snowflakes per day.  I only have 245 ships so I don't have to grind so hard.

I'm down to 34 ships left out of 416. The tiers I have left are 8 and 9. I'll be sitting on roughly 73K steel and 900K coal.

Finished earlier today (383 ships, with two more pending regrind... but with 13 rewards left, so they'll be instantly de-flaked upon recovery). Scraped enough coal off the event, between flakes and crates, to buy the most expensive ship left in the armory on my wish list (Neustrashimy, w/coal coupon), plus a TX coal ship (Álvaro de Bazán), with ~76k coal and ~6k steel left over, and ~220k FXP to do whatever with. I pulled three ships from crates so far- Orion '44 (yay!), I-56 (boo), and Xin Zhong Guo 14 (boo), but I still have the 5x small and 1x mega crates after I do the dailies tomorrow. Not nearly as lucrative a haul as last year, when I claimed nine ships, but... eh, whatever. At least that's two fewer pigboats RNG can foist on me in the future (or potentially some fodder for the next premium trade-in event, if there's something enticing enough on the list). And I did kinda regret having to pass on Orion '44 during the D-Day event, so it all works out.
