xamdam Posted Friday at 11:59 AM Posted Friday at 11:59 AM I just tricked MS into "updating" my old PC (didn't meet requirements) into Win 11. Now when I try to take a "Prt Sc" (screenshot) I'm met with some stupid popup menu at the top of my screen with something like a camera, video cam and other stuff that I have to "X" out of to remove... How in the heck do I just take a normal screenshot to save to my game folder? I wish these damned "user enhancement" kids working on software would just leave things alone... Old guys have a hard time adapting. 3
xamdam Posted Friday at 12:01 PM Author Posted Friday at 12:01 PM Everything else seems to be working just fine, BTW... might even have a few more FPS even though I haven't bothered downloading the "latest" NVidia driver for my old GTX 1080 card. Just whatever Win 11 installed.
Justin_Simpleton Posted Friday at 12:14 PM Posted Friday at 12:14 PM When the menu pops up, that's when you draw your box around what you want in your screenshot. 2

Lol, okay, I'll try that... I really just liked the whole screen shot... you know, like it has been for the past 40 years or so.

xamdam Posted Friday at 12:25 PM Author Posted Friday at 12:25 PM Or maybe it does, sheesh I dunno... Old dog, new tricks...
I_cant_Swim_ Posted Friday at 12:36 PM Posted Friday at 12:36 PM I believe the screen you grab with the tool is saved to the clipboard, nowhere else. So you have to paste it into a document or a graphics program. Powerpoint or even a word processor will do, for example. Then you've got to save it from there. 1

It used to be so simple... like me. prt sc, in WOWS screenshots folder...
xamdam Posted Friday at 12:51 PM Author Posted Friday at 12:51 PM Okay, I figured it out. How's that for an old dog? lol Hit prt sc, then the "X" at the far right of the center "menu" that pops up on screen (at the top) then prt sc again and repeat for whatever you want saved to your WOWS folder as an entire screen grab. Like it's always been. Like it always should be... Especially for old guys like me. Just what I needed, something else to click on.

When playing WOWs, I use the "CNTL + PRTSC" keys pressed and held together for a moment. This saves to my WOWs screenshot folder. And, if I want, I can paste the image into my Paint program for editing. Edit: I am using Windows 10, though. Edited Friday at 12:54 PM by Wolfswetpaws 1
xamdam Posted Friday at 12:55 PM Author Posted Friday at 12:55 PM As per my instructions above... this is what I got by that method. Just prt sc and X out... an extra click but they do save to the folder as full screen grabs. Imagine that. 4
xamdam Posted Friday at 01:03 PM Author Posted Friday at 01:03 PM BTW, my old rig is an i7 2600K Sandy Bridge powerhouse... 13 year old release date. Runs Windows 11 fine with teh bypass install. 80~100 FPS on fairly high settings (GTX 1080) and no issues with lag, etc... Neither my motherboard or CPU were "supported" for the Win 11 updater. But proof positive, this old hardware is still fine to run WOWS (and ever other stinkin' thing I need to do!) MS money grab (in cohorts with the hardware peeps, no doubt...)! I have a youtube link to the site that showed me how to "upgrade", if anyone is interested. Down with the kiddies! Up with the old man ingenuity and tenacity! lol 3
Efros Posted Friday at 01:38 PM Posted Friday at 01:38 PM (edited) On my setup, win 11, shift PrintScreen will commit the current screen to the clipboard and then I go to paintdotnet to open it and save. To save directly to the Screenshots folder in your Pictures folder use the Windows key plus PrintScreen key. Edited Friday at 01:39 PM by Efros
