T10 Premium CV Shinano

Gotta love WG .......

So, apparently WG has backtracked 180 and scrapped any attempt at a new CV rework or changing CV spotting mechanics in the game and instead doubled down on dumbing down the game and released their most OP/Un-balanced CV to date! 

So Shinano has...

• An Essex smoke screen .... because why not..          ..... Im actually shocked it didn't get a Funny button (next patch maybe....)
• Heals for almost all squadrons, the rest is tanky A-F ..... so CV Mains dont have to learn how to play the game and avoid flac.....
• AP skip bombers that will Citadel BBs on the first line ..... which just happens to also be the easiest to aim/drop ...... yeah ..... and also Citadel heavy cruisers on the second line.....
• Has a Yamato hull ..... so TANKY A-F!
• A 50 % ........ 50 %!!! torp protection ..... because reasons ..... maybe CVs shouldn't be punished if a Shima that has been spotted over and over making its way across the map to the "CV island" to torp them and they have done Fook All about it...
• Has 11 km secondaries ..... with Graf Zeppelin dispersion and apparently Napoli DPM (according to Bou) .... and can get detect down to 10 km ! ! ! Because a YAMATO HULL apparently has cloaking devises...?! Which means if a DD gets spotted trying to attach this IQ deficit friendly CV, the CV can just smoke himself up while running away from the DD, spot the DD with its fighter planes and just let his AI controlled Super Secondaries kill the DD ..... while the CV is flying across the map to cit a Satsuma..... the level of dumb shit is at max level here (WG: "Hold my beer...."). Wonder why then a Yamato dont get 10 km concealment....? Strange.... its like CV Mains need some more crutches ... Hmmm
• Ricochet angles are insane for the skip bombers so you can pretty much roll you're face over the keyboard and all bombs will pen? To bad NO OTHER class in this game gets this special treatment..... wonder why .... (skill levels...?)
• Are a counter to Essex to create that FOMO/"Must get the new OP shit" hype.

 

Right now, im just thinking "THANK GOD WG introduced Subs into this game! ! !" I guess I will be playing A LOT of GATO in the future, and probably a lot of Archerfish when they release that BS Sub for a normal Steel price in the future.

I dont think Archerfish will be a counter to this CV ingame like it was in reality (the Sub sank this CV IRL), because it will probably take it a lot of strikes to sink a Yamato hull with 50 % torp protection. But GATO can probably get the job done in 2.

 

 

The best thing ANY new players can do in this game is to fully invest in Submarines which negates pretty much 90 % of the CV BS and especially invest in Premiums like GATO and Archerfish. You will enjoy this game soooo much more .... to all the other players cost.

You have no proof of this, and in fact the NA stream last night said exactly the opposite.

This has always been true. The way to succeed has been to exploit WGs poor balancing decisions.

Not necessarily...MvR has a battleship hull as well, still not very tanky. Most battleship to CV conversions removed a lot of the belt armor to save weight.

Getting detect down to 10km AND boosting secondaries means severely gimping your aircraft...not a wise choice. Plus the secondaries are 127mm, which won't pen much. GZ has bigger caliber secondaries with improved pen...

One of the Dev-Blogs mentioned that armor was thinned/removed during the real-life process of changing the hull from a battleship into an aircraft carrier.
This phenomena was modeled in-game.

I don't know what sort of point you're trying to make, though (about the Content Creators).
If they're worse than you (at playing a CV), then why not make your own demonstration video?

Not sure if this happens to be a coincidence or not, but last night I was playing my Sanzang in a Scenario Operation Narai.
After the battle, my impression of my own performance was that it was "sloppy".  
Planes were not maneuvering well and drops/attacks seemed more difficult to get "on target" with the torpedo planes and rocket planes.
Yet the bomber planes seemed okay.  
For me, it was a bit of a mystery and I reckoned that my CV playing skills had gotten rusty and that I needed some practice to restore my proficiency.

Could be lag too...if you have even a little bit of stutter it really hurts CV performance.

Could be rust too on the skills...CV play is very much a flow, and being out of flow just feels weird.

One of my personal recreational interests is crudely yet soundly securing emergency exits in heavily populated buildings then throwing the fire alarm then streaming the ensuing chaos and panic to a group of like minded individuals so I very much respect this thread topic.

Perhaps ships like Shinano and Archerfish won't ever be these bringers of destruction and player exodus and, as extrapolation seems to be in great favour, follow the ships before them and retreat into obscurity or settle into the game comfortably in the future.

I don't even care about taking her to PvP: it's pretty obvious this is my next steel ship, even just to mess with the bots in Cherry Blossom or wherever.

We're looking at 72k "hitting DPM" at 11 km, compared to 80k on Napoli and 127k on GZ, if the latter could reach that far. With plain old HE that pens only 21 mm. Very usable against sneaky DDs, but not exactly a powerhouse.

Yeah, this happens to me as well on the daily! 

Never had a Essex or Yorktown smoking me up in my Jäger when I try and secure a cap for my team while getting harassed by the red CV, but I frequently see them either dropping smoke walls that blind us completely or often enough they just use them as a cloaking devise to bail when they outstayed they welcome to an enemy team they have seen pushed their position the last 10 min.

So yeah, I bought it and may not play it much if it really does prove OP. Im not that good, but OP doesnt appeal to me other than the occasional irresistible allure of Kamikaze and Belfast. 

I bought it because it seemed interesting, and because Hoffman and Oranje fell in Gold crates, so no Steel was spent on them. In order, Ive gotten Kalmar, Hoffmann, Teng She, Oranje, and Shinano in the Holiday splurge. I rationalized this by the observation spent virtually nothing the last two Holidays. 

Shinano is my 713th ship lol.

I'm a giver and a taker (no not in that context you dirty little peeps). Playing all ship types gives you a lot of tolerance towards every game mechanic. Been sunk by subs in a carrier, sunk subs in a carrier, HE farmed in BBs, spent 10 minutes dodging Jager torps, watched AP salvoes pass through the hull again and again in Smolensk...I don't know lists of stuff that would shit you or someone else up the wall, if you or they allowed it to.

I really don't think WG gives all that much consideration to serial ragers. They gave them a report button to make them feel better. By all means go nuts in a sub against CVs. You get my vote.

Im calm as a cucumber mate. Im zipping on my Negroni while sailing my Sub and getting 2500 Base XP each game for free. Just pointing out the balancing state of the new releases. I also did a similar thread about Archerfish so no bias here.

Its a PSA for newer not so experienced players to know what they will be facing. Like a "Welcome to WoW´s and Tier 10!" 😄
