SoshiSone Posted Thursday at 03:53 AM Posted Thursday at 03:53 AM (edited) This is part 1 in a three part series. Tiger 59 doesn’t get a lot of love in this game. But it happens to be a very nice utility ship. It magnifies the capabilities of the team. When up tiered, that means it magnifies the capabilities of the T10 ships that surround it. Here’s a T10 match, with a pretty heavy T10 and T9 presence. Let’s see how Tiger blends in. Spoiler There is only one DD per side. Tiger is a DD hunter, so this is a negative in that regard. However, making up for the negative is now Tiger can perform the role of a DD. As always, one must know the radar ships. Tallin and Mino are the two I must be careful about. Both have longer range radar than me, and both have massive firepower advantages. Not to mention most of the BBs therein can one shot me. And that Gouden has to be tracked too, because when Tiger smokes in range, those air drops can be nasty. With that in mind, let’s get started. I start kinda to the right side, so decide to move toward the right flank to provide eyes over there as needed. As I move over, I see torps…looks like the red Jager is on this side, which is an excellent match up for Tiger. Spoiler Even more torps…and our friendly Jager is running interference as well. Good job. I’ll head on over there in support. Spoiler First, I’ll pop smoke for the big guys around me. Spoiler Our Jager has detected the red Jager. Got into a bit of a scuffle, but both break contact. Spoiler I run a diagonal toward the last Jager position as I don’t know if the red Jager will move to the flank, keep retreating, or turn and give it another go. So I’m hedging my bets. Our friendly Jager is also playing good positioning. Spoiler Here is where the Tiger shines. Look at that detection signal. It can only be the Jager. He’s turned around and is making another run. And how does Tiger shine here? Tiger basically has radar range that matches detection range. So…I light ‘em up. Many DD players that know Tiger is close (or might be close) will position tangentially so they can run out of radar detection. As a Tiger captain, I can mitigate this by making contact with good closing speed. This is why I ran diagonally. The fact this Jager is also in a closing position is even better. He cannot break radar contact. Spoiler That said, Tiger has such dismal DPM, that when I make these catches alone, the DD can often survive due to my inability to put damage on target. But as I noted above, Tiger is a utility ship. It’s not what it brings by itself. It’s what it brings to the team. All my close teammates (mostly T9 and T10) focusing on the red Jager…he doesn’t last long. This is how Tiger magnifies the team’s capability. I don’t need DPM if my team can deliver it. Spoiler With their DD gone, reds lose their best eyes. There is a Tallin protecting their base. Tiger vs Tallin is usually a very bad day for Tiger. But I’ve got a Nap and a Mosk behind me, and BBs behind them. Penty of T10 punch. So forward I go…don’t need to shoot. Just keep eyes on the Tallin and let my team do the rest. DD players will recognize this tactic. Spoiler Edited Thursday at 03:57 AM by SoshiSone 6
Wolfswetpaws Posted Thursday at 04:10 AM Posted Thursday at 04:10 AM Good "Part 1", @SoshiSone. I'm looking forward to the rest. 🙂
Aethervox Posted Thursday at 05:05 AM Posted Thursday at 05:05 AM I'm learning or, is it, SoshlSone is teaching 😃. I get it, she's showing how spotting along with teamwork can prevail. 2
