Frostbow Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I'm a bit late to the Star Trek event, but I'm making up for it now. The Borg Invasion is so much fun to play, and is a breath of fresh air from the usual PVP / PVE modes. I've been playing this mode for a few days (starting after I finished the Libertad grind), and already my recent battles netted me 50, then 63, then 92, and then finally 123 citadel hits. These ships have guns that are absolutely nuts. They do have Photon Torpedoes and Particle Pulses that can easily wipe out enemy ships, but I find it more fun doing damage the old-fashioned way: hitting their citadels. 6
Wolfswetpaws Posted November 13 Posted November 13 (edited) Congrats. My Toqduj's record is only 48 citadel hits, as of this writing. 🙂 Edited November 13 by Wolfswetpaws

I suspect the "armor schemes" (for the ships in the Star Trek temporary event scenarios) are somewhat different than in a normal WOWs warship. Also, the weapons perform somewhat differently, too, I feel. Some ships can survive multiple citadel hits, and a player can accrue more than 10 cits on one target before the target is sunk. Reminds me of this scene from the movie Star Trek Wrath of Khan. Skip to the two minute time-stamp, and observe the phaser fire penetrating the hull and knocking important systems off-line, but not immediately blowing-up the Enterprise. Imagine each phaser pulse counting as one citadel hit? Star Trek II Wrath of Khan - Reliant Vs Enterprise; First Clash 1080p 1

Star Trek II Wrath of Khan - Reliant Vs Enterprise; First Clash 1080p The phasers penetrate the hull and cause damage to internal components, so.... what's maintaining the air pressure in the damaged compartment and keeping it from being exposed to the vacuum of space, and the people in there from dying? 1

Depends upon the time-frame of the Star Trek era, I think. While it is possible to expose compartments to vacuum of space, they generally don't show this happening in ST:The Original Series. In ST:Next Generation, the Enterprise is equipped with multiple emergency/security force-fields which can seal a hull-breach or be used to confine an intruder. In ST:Discovery, the early episodes depict a crew-member being trapped in a compartment that has been sealed with a force-field. With the time-frame of the Wrath Of Khan movie, if my memory serves me, the hull breaches are sealed with some form of expanding chemical foam, similar to what we can buy in our local hardware stores, but designed for the hazards of space. I could be wrong, though. For more "canon" information, I suggest reading about structural integrity and hull breaches at the Memory Alpha site. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Structural_integrity 1

The sheer penetrating power can citadel a Borg battleship (basically a Republique with a version of the Paris perma camo) from a lot of angles. This mode reminds me of 2019's Raid of the Filth where you have a cruiser, Rust Nightfall (Hindenburg), firing shells that have a velocity of 1,000 m/s.

I'm reminded of the Big Hunt and Key Battles modes, too. I think they used the mechanics of past events and incorporated them into the current Star Trek event. Not that I mind. It's just interesting to observe and identify the phenomena. 🙂

They turned it up to 11. Now we have destroyers that fire HE shells that have velocities as high as 1,500 m/s and can even citadel battleships.
