I’ll try not to get too preachy on the topic but if you take anything from this take this. No matter WHAT anyone tells you , LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!

I remember a couple of months ago, seeing the nice thread made to remember  the anniversary of the loss of a fellow WOWS player.  He was not the first over the years and I thought about it.

Well I have always felt great and (not boasting here but making a point ) I am frequently guessed to be 20 years younger than I am.  I always tell people don’t trust the wrapper, trust the mileage.

Well short version is , a couple of months ago I wasn’t feeling like myself. Having a hard time keeping up with my friends, feeling tired.

After falling behind walking to the car , behind my Older friends , I decided to call The VA Monday morning to go get a check-up.

On the phone with the VA and the Woman says… Ok what I need you to do right now is hang up the phone and dial 911. I LOLed then she got Grandma FIRM with me and said it again!!

Well that was 7 weeks ago and I am now sitting at home today 4 weeks Post triple Bypass open Heart Surgery.

During recovery in the early stages of this I peeked in on the forum and the game. I missed a bit but the worst part is a WASTED almost 2 months of PT  LOL   J/K

Seriously though.  I got lucky.  People drop every day that ignore this stuff…  I am here.

Looking forward to seeing you guys in the game soon. There's a Black Friday ship or 2 that I don’t already have and a whole bunch of Christmas Crates to get and open soon.

Stay Health Captains and listen to your body, it may just save your AFT.

For you and your family, and for all of us that enjoy your company here in the forums and in game, I'm glad you reached out to the VA and got that advice 🙏

Welcome back, fair seas and following winds!

And thanks for sharing that story, because who knows, you may have saved a life by doing so.

I know I'm personally taking stock after reading this.

Hey, Nasty: Please stay that way (lucky)! Glad to have you back! Take care of yourself, and do some more walking - in fact, I'm trying too, as well.

Glad you are doing better... My VA doctor is Jamaican and she was upset with me that my cholesterol was higher than my last visit. I made a joke and she put both her hands on her hips and tore into me..... I am eating a lot of lettuce now, she is terrifying.  I do believe the woman would beat me.

Great to see you back @Col_NASTY!  Hope your triple bypass gives you many more happy years!  I've known plenty of people on both sides of lucky vs unlucky, spent my career in healthcare so I've seen it.  Strange how life can continue or end on a whim; a phone call, a conversation that may incline you to take a next step, or not.  Best of luck on your recovery and hope to see you on the high seas!

I am sooooo glad you listened !!!  It is amazing how many men simply refuse to "act on" pain and issues.   Well done....

Now, did the Hospital that did the bypass give you a Heart Pillow showing what they did >>>???  Out this-a-way, they actually do and it makes explaining a bypass easier.

Take it easy you old grump;  and,  if you want to join in a division some night, our group of Hooligans and Hoofties are on most nights in Ops.....

Be well.

They did give me a Heart Pillow. In the early stages I wouldn't let it be 2 feet from me. I'm able to get in and out of the bed without it now but it's always a life saver whenever I cough or sneeze 🤧 Funny thing about getting split 🪓 You learn JUST which muscles and bones reacts to what. It was magical the first time I tried to hold back a sneeze without the pillow 🤧🤯🤣

Hey Col_Nasty! Damn glad you’re still around man. That’s too close of a call my friend. I told you to take it easy on the hookers and blow man!  I just took a little break myself, but I’m very glad your back and OK.

Thanks to all of you for the well wishes.   I will soon be back in battle.

I am usually a very private person , that is why even people I have known for 20 -30 years don't know what happened yet.

I wanted to wait a while until I was further out of the woods.

If this adventure even helps a single one of you catch something before it's too late it will be worth it.

Stay salty ya miserable wretches!
