Sambo_Cigars Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 (Google translate:) Today is the launch day of the battleship Nagato! Launched on November 9, 1919 in Kure, it was the world's first ship to be equipped with a 41cm gun, and along with its sister ship Mutsu, it was beloved as a symbol of the Japanese Navy. During the Pacific War, it participated in the Battle of Midway, the Battle of the Mariana Islands, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and was eventually seized by the US military after the war and sunk as a target for nuclear testing. 1
HogHammer Posted November 26 Posted November 26 For those who are not part of @FlimsyLunchTray's Discord, he posted an image of the Tirpitz. I will have to double-check the in-game camo versus this image to see how they compare. The look of many of these BBs is a thing of beauty. Tirpitz (Queen of the North), flanked by multiple destroyers, sails through the Bogenfjord in October 1942. 2

I imagine they've sailed with each other long enough, and well enough, to mutually trust their proficiency. And, they probably aren't traveling at top-speed. Observe the bow-waves and the stern-wakes. 1
HogHammer Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I dug into this photo a little more. The above is "colorized." Here is the original: Attribution: Bundesarchiv, Bild 183-J19316 / Boeckmann / CC-BY-SA 3.0 Bundesarchiv - Bilddatenbank The original negative measures 13x18 cm, so it was probably taken with a sheet film camera of roughly 5x7 format. The distance between the ships looks about normal based on similar ship formations I've seen in photos. 1
