Who invented the "Chicken dance"?

Ok.... so I might be "shit faced" on wine and Negronis ...... but I was watching a seemingly great TV show called "Rivals" on Disney and suddenly a bunch of wealthy British upper class (think "The Gentleman") was doing the "Chicken dance" ..... which I thought was a Swedish invention ..... because we are all nerds ....... and also since the only time you seen it as a Nordic Viking was in a movie with Stig Helmer (Swedish version of "Mr. Bean") in "Sällskapsresan - Snowroller" movie.

But then I actually tried to Google it and the results was a bity split ... even Youtube pretty much said ..... "Nope!" ..

So I just wondering .... where are you guys from and what .... if any relations .... you have to said Chicken song ...

Heres one example...... but it seems weird it would come form Texas of all places ..... seems like Germany or Bawyvarian (?)

Germany sounds about right based on what I can remember. Oh, as for Texas, that's not strange. There are Germans in Texas.

Im just confused .... we have a lot of Swedes in Minnesota as well but I just feel ... because this is part of my Childhood ... this is Swedish .. but I could settle for German/Bavarian. Do we have any German authority in the forum?

Hopefully we get some German authority here to sort this out, but in the meantime you are going to have to settle for my authority as I'm moving this thread to off topic.

Congrats.  You've stumbled onto something that Wikipedia hasn't sourced very well.  🙂

I attended Oktoberfest at my alma mater, which is in an area with a substantial Volga German population, for seven years and never once heard of a "Chicken Dance."
