tm63au Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Unless I am mistaken and I have been many a time I don't see how being in Star Trek mode will help you with the " around the world event " Note you have to play Pan European ships and unless I am mistaken the Star trek ships are not , so how do you improve figures on this and few others that seem to say you can play the Star Trek mode. Maybe I am missing something here ! 1
Admiral_Karasu Posted November 4 Posted November 4 This has often been the case in the past, WG special modes and such don't help you with your missions. It's an awful oversight, IMO, and I'm sure WG is working hard to find a solution. 1 7

aleksi111 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 IMO It's intentional FOMO tactic to pressure players to stay logged on and play more and longer in order to help keep server numbers higher 2 1

I haven't had time to investigate the Trek mode, but - in the past - WG have been known to simply set missions to 'doable in everything' in principle, whilst particular modes lack the specific thing needed to complete said mission. Whilst I'm aware we're talking about WG, I wouldn't necessarily assume malice, but rather taking the path of least effort (even though the end result may not be an entirely good look from a UX point of view). 2

It’s a small, ultimately harmless oversight, similar to how one of the other active missions requires defend/cap ribbons and is marked as doable in Operations. Anyone paying the least bit of attention will know that you can’t play a European ship in the Star Trek mode. My guess is that the devs have a “standard” option that includes all game modes, and that was coded for these missions. There isn’t seen any need to “fix” it because it ultimately doesn’t enable the player to do something the devs didn’t intend. Edited November 4 by Nevermore135 1

The annoying thing here, at least to me personally, is that this sort of overlaps don't make it any easier to optimize your game play if you have an eye on completing several different mission chains on time. The whole issue would be a lot smaller if everything wasn't time gated and running parallel.

THAT was awesome! 1

No, just pay attention to the mission requirements (which you should always do) and realize that the themed historical missions requiring European ships obviously can’t be completed in the Star Trek event mode. Select your game mode and ships accordingly. 2 hours ago, Admiral_Karasu said: The annoying thing here, at least to me personally, is that this sort of overlaps don't make it any easier to optimize your game play if you have an eye on completing several different mission chains on time. WG has themed nation-specific missions all the time. Edited November 4 by Nevermore135 1

Maybe I am missing something here ! Last night, my information was that I had 24 more days to complete the missions which required the use of European ships. So, I'm not getting stressed about it. Some games here, some games there. Eventually should yield progress. Or just focus on this until you've completed it, and then take a break or work on other missions (or vice-versa). 🙂
