Edited to add:  When I returned to my Port, a screen showcasing the European  Netherlands ship, the Java, was awaiting me.
I'm not sure the process worked as intended, though?

Code activated but I don't see an option to get any of the ships when I log in.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It shows up if you go into the full tech tree. But there's no indication that it's there until you go into the tech tree, and no notification anywhere else that you need to claim it from the tech tree. Thanks for the help WeeGee.

I didn't have any of those ships but when I logged in, got nothing but a long assed mission chain. Looks related since it is Polish themed but holy cow, you can only use a few specific ships for each mission. 

Thanks for the code Hog but I am not pursuing this. 

EDIT: Ok didn't see Midnight's post until I posted my message. He is right, you have to go to the Tech Tree screen and you will see the little gold box by each country that has a freebie ship. I chose the BB since it sells for nearly 300k credits. Thanks Midnight for figuring it out and posting.

I’ve seen a couple people post screenshots of them getting a screen notification after playing a game to pick one of them, but that isn’t super clear either.

That's what happened to me.  The choice between the three ships appeared just before the battle results.

Most important for me as a beginer, it gave a free slot in the harbour as well !!!

Well, no ships for me either on several accounts.

I'm glad some could get a new ship in their port, however.
