Funny triple kill against 2 DDs and a Brindisi in the span of one radar

Do not do any of the actions depicted unless you want to go to the next battle early

Turns out that if you have a barbell-shaped player distribution consisting of absolute turnips on one end and sweaty super-purples on the other, you have yourself a statistically well balanced ship 🤪

I hate radar ships in WoWS. Does anyone know how accurate Wedgie is with radars & radar ships in this arcade farce? Like radar going thru islands, etc 😒

I agree that radar and hydro being able to detect ships through islands is unrealistic.
(Edit:  These DD's weren't behind islands, though.)

Hence the "arcade game" appellation, instead of calling WOWs a "simulation".

I somewhat suspect this isn't the only reason. Some deviations from realism make the gameplay easier, some actually make it harder, so I have to question WG's wisdom behind many of the decisions and choices they make...

Radar is obviously grossly oversimplified for the sake of the game, to the point of almost parody. A realistic radar system would not necessarily make the game more interesting while being highly technical (do you really think the average 47%er is going to understand radar mechanics?) and expensive to create. 

 

If anything, realistic radar would be stronger than it already is in game. Always searching, significantly longer range than in game, and only defeated by islands.

 

Regardless, the only "unrealistic" part of this engagement as far as radar is concerned would be my radar not picking them up earlier, considering they were closing in on me and would therefore be creating a stronger return.

Radar is pretty much a non issue once you learn what ships have what range. You learn the spots on each map that radar ships like to use. Even radar DDs are easy to contend with if you play smart.

Radar and hydro work through islands because they are simply modifications of the “proximity detect” mechanic that detects ships within 2km. The consumables modify that value for their duration.

The devs didn’t see any reason to change it before the split, and I certainly can’t see it happening now since it’s pretty obvious most of the staff with working knowledge of the code stayed with Lesta.

Good thing that the radar ships are well known, as are their range and likely duration.
