Canadian Thanksgiving tomorrow, so my weekending is not yet complete.

What did you all get up to? We found a freaking huge owl in our backyard, and the cat is terrified of it.

Fleet Week in San Francisco, took a cruise around the Bay in the SS Jeremiah O’Brien.  Clouds kept the Blue Angels from performing, but did see some incredible aerobatics from an F-22 Raptor.

Currently working my Naval Battles grid.
Where feasible, I'm sailing low-tier ships, for the fun of it.
But, while enjoying a snack to eat, I sortied a couple of Tier-8 Battleships, namely the Constellation and the Bismarck.
Each only needed to score 10 ribbons to earn a "star".
But, the Bismarck's 216 sec-bat hits were, on their own, enough to "crush it" and get the star.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition to World of Warships, I've also played some Star Trek Online, this weekend.

In Star Trek Online, I'm currently researching some "Reputation System" equipment sets, for use with a Malem Class Warbird.
https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Malem_Light_Warbird
Currently, I'm thinking of using a mix of weapons and shields/deflector-array and propulsion (Impulse drive and Singularity Warp-drive) systems.
The ship is Romulan and already has some items from the Romulan and Reman sub-sets of equipment.
But, I'm also considering a Deflector array from the Terran technology set, and selected weapons and propulsion units from the Lukari technology sets.
Tractor-beam mines remain a nuisance (with my ship's current configuration), so the drain-expertise/resistance of the Terran Deflector array makes it a contender.
The Lukari technologies offer shield regeneration and hull repair benefits along with the Singularity Warp-drive having some benefits for Slip-stream travel.

The "recipe" of components should improve my ship's energy-drain resistance and survival capabilities while simultaneously improving offensive capabilities when cloaked and when not-cloaked.

To gather the necessary Reputation Marks and in-game commodities (credits and dilithium), I've been playing a number of "Task Force Operations".

As a "hobby project" it is interesting, for me.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turned-on the Heat, today, as the start of the "heating season".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did some online shopping for a "Plunge Router" and an assortment of router-bits via Harbor Freight's website.
Tried to "pull the trigger" yesterday, but their online check-out system couldn't properly process my payment and I had to cancel the transaction.
Apparently some of the sales and coupons being offered this week are only valid for specific days.
Because when I tried again, today, I couldn't get yesterday's prices.  🤔
So, I ended up placing desired items in a "my list" section of my online account with them and not making the purchase.
Also complicating the situation was that some items were "in-store only" and couldn't be ordered online.
Hmmm.  🤔
Penny saved, penny earned, I suppose.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baby-sat the Ferrets and did some laundry while the wife attended a celebration-of-life event on her side of the family tree.

Hope everyone's long-weekend is happy & healthy.

We spent a considerable amount of time trying to teach "Murder Incorporated" (our 4 black cats) to not bring their kills OR their terrified live prey into the house.

No animal is safe from these 4 wrecking machines.  They bring mice, birds, rabbits, possum, racoons, et.al.  If it moves around here, it dies.  I wonder how the OP's absolute Chad of an Owl would fare?  We could sell tickets to that, I think.  🙂

If it's as huge as suggested it wouldn't be much of a competition...but some people don't know just how huge owls can get & consider fair to mid sized owls to be huge...because they are quite impressively large in & of themselves...

Though the owls advantage is that it wouldn't be standing toe to toe with the cats...it would be a death from above scenario.

The PTS special mode practically IS Star Trek Online! 🤪

(Okay, it's not, but I think you'll be pleased with it.)

The larger of our two cats (the mother of the kitten we originally wanted; we took her in also because the callous previous owners were going to dump it at the SPCA with its kittens not even fully weaned yet) has killed two shrews and a bird, the latter a particularly difficult kill as she (the cat) was in an outdoor cage at the time, touching some grass. The bird flew over too low, and she reached up between the bars and nailed it with her claws.

We have identified it as a Great Horned Owl. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Great_Horned_Owl/overview

Per Wikipedia:

Quote

Its primary diet is rabbits and hares, rats and mice, and voles, although it freely hunts any animal it can overtake, including rodents and other small mammals, larger mid-sized mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.

Quote

The legs, feet, and talons are large and powerful. Tarsal length is 54–80 mm (2.1–3.1 in).[12] The average foot span of a fully spread foot, from talon to talon, is around 20 cm (7.9 in), as compared to 8 cm (3.1 in) in long-eared owls, 13 to 15 cm (5.1 to 5.9 in) in barn owls, and 18 cm (7.1 in) in the great grey owl.[6][30] Great horned owls can apply at least 300 psi (2,100 kPa) of crushing power in their talons, a pressure considerably greater than the human hand is capable of exerting. In some big females, the gripping power of the great horned owl may be comparable to much larger raptor species such as the golden eagle.[31]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_horned_owl#Prey_and_trophic_ecology

(TLDR; it can take a 5lb jackrabbit, but has been known to tackle prey up to fifteen pounds, including foxes and juvenile coyotes.)

I don't give a cat much chance at night.

Not very much WOWS this weekend.  Spent most of the weekend on hobbies outside of the game.

As far as the game.......finished my portion of Naval Battles and played Ops with our evening crew.

The game is now officially the plan B game for the posse I hang with and with that, I simply use this forum for codes.

I played a couple of games on PTS this weekend.
For some reason, there were volume/sound issues.  Stuff I was supposed to hear, such as Commander's voices, wasn't being heard.
And, yes, I did check my audio choices in the settings menu.

After earning some PTS rewards which were sent to my live-server account, I was given a survey by WOWs.
I mentioned the sound problems, amidst my responses.

Me too. I usually try to get the first *s with lower tier ships in NBs, as well. As you say, it's fun & usually easily doable there.

This weekend, in NA, I was only one in clan to do NBs & got 5 *s which gave clan 17th in Group. A SC popped up with 1500 RPs - where does one find what RPs you have from your port? (I have never used RPs before but, likely, have some more. For EU, the clan there earned 66 *s for 8th in Group (I did not participate this time).

A little too much RL stuff to do that I didn't play much WoWS (I mean, most of us know by now which way the WoWS bathtub water is going > down the drain) 😒

My cats get along with all of the critters that come around including squirrels, possums, raccoons, blue jays, sparrows, and other cats

Wound it up for the long weekend. Streaming on Saturday, daily grind quotas and a day at the office Sunday and today (Monday).

Cataluna keeps turning out some amazing co-op games, frequently exceeding my admittedly small daily quota by a clear margin in a single fight. A few of the other ships on my worklist are also well ahead, and they look like they'll be finished far sooner than originally intended.

Top of the list of my husbandly duties today was to dismember the Canadian Thanksgiving Turkey for dinner. Being a doctor means you frequently get stuck with that job, especially when you are a surgeon or a pathologist.
