Probably the best Guide on Ships and Captain Builds I found

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just recently found this guy's channel and since then have reworked a lot of my ship builds (modules and captain skills) and also gotten some new knowledge/insight regarding certain ships that even I didn't know before.

Hes also quite funny to listen to and he explains a lot in between and during the games what his thoughts and tactics is. He is a Super unicum player that plays for the RAIN clan.

Unlike 99.9% of all other WoW Youtubers he doesn't show of cherry-picked games (one great one outa 100 bad ones), instead this guy just starts playing live and then get 2 Amazing consecutive games anyways. Most games are like 200-400 000 damage.

If you look at buying a new ship it might be a good thing to watch his video on it before, just to get a good feel about it.

I watched two of his videos (Shimikaze & Smolensk), both losses. He is no coward, that's for sure. I expect his tactics are sound, unlike some of his team mates. Tactics of team mates, the one skill factor that really determines the battle result. The real Achilles heel of WoWS which Wedgie has never (& will never) balance properly.

For those two RAIN players (were the other Div players in on this?) to get onto opposite teams in the same random battle they likely were doing a sync drop & that worked this time. From the Reddit thread comments both should have gotten the same ban &, imo, the CV player tester should have been booted from that status. My 2 cents.

Speaking of getting into controversy, I went to his YT and had a look around. I clicked on a video about the Jinan because I'll be getting her fairly soon, and lo and behold I see this:

The audio isn't exactly fit for the ears of small children either. It takes less than 30 seconds before the first F-bomb drops, so you should probably exercise discretion about where you listen to it without headphones. 😜 (I've got no @#$%^& problems with it, but people sitting at the next @#$%^& table in a @#$%^& coffee shop might.)

I dont know, the video is marked as "Private"? so I cant watch it. But what I gathered he or someone else got banned for suspicion of synk dropping ... or killing to many planes ... or some other BS?! Its un-clear.

Going by the recent BS ban of Flambass for using streaming cards while playing this seems to just be some BS thing that WG uses to ban certain players (that perhaps aren't usch WG shells/WG favorite's) that they dont like. Seriously, how many times dont we all see players sync drop, or stack div or do any other 15 things to break any balance? And WG does fook all. But then a certain individual does something and its straight to Gulag.

I dont know, I dont think I can care less of WGs BS so called "Policeing" of this game anymore.

Yup, seen that as well in many of his videos. Hes a straight shooter when it comes to pretty much everything in this game, he calls a unicorn a "Unicorn" and a donkey a "Donkey" and I don't get my knickers in a twist over it.

Having chat bans in this game is in Many cases a sign of you actually know how to play/are skilled but are forced to be contempt with the standards of the rest of the T10 player base. I certainly have had my share of chat bans, but recently I just try not to give a fook about anything in this game ... and that actually help!?

But for me the lessons you can learn from his experience and skill weigh heavier than some strong language.

You can criticize WG or team-mates and get your point across without being profane or personally abusive. I said this time and again on the old forums: the manner in which you put your views across is as important as the views themselves.

Don't try to convince me that he's a brave soul being persecuted or silenced. I've used the word "f**k" in battle chat from time to time without getting penalized for it. The fact that he got a permanent ban on this account tells me he must have REALLY overstepped the line in terms of using naughty words, and the fact that he told someone (when asked) that they really don't want to know what he said that got him banned (see the comments on the video I linked) tells me he knows he overstepped the mark.

My call: he's an edgy potty-mouth who also happens to be very good at the game, but there are times when that potty-mouth needs to be reined in and he made a critical error in not perceiving that.

The more I watch, the less I like him. He treats his team as something that exists to support him (the Tulsa player he abuses all the way t hrough the first battle and calls a bot at one point ends up coming top of the team), then he automatically blacklists all submarine players at the start of the second match, thus denying himself any in-game intel they might be able to give him. He might have skills, but his attitude is so offensive I can no longer continue to watch.

I think it usually boils down to how passionate or invested you are in something. Take football/socker for example, its just a game like any other right? But in that game there is quite frequent players and viewers ready to tear each others heads of, or beat each other to a pulp inside and outside of the stadiums. In Hockey you have the same.

In some countries you can probably die if you wear the wrong teams colors in the wrong place.

Cant all these players and fans get their points across without all this?  Its just a game right? Why do they heff to be mad?

And I dont try to make him out being a "brave soul" I just find it a bit funny that WG lets 1000 other incidents just pass them by and reports after report getting ignored by them but then suddenly the just pound on some specific individuals ... and those specific individuals (for example Flambass and back in the day Flamu etc etc) just happened to be very vocal about WG and this game.

For me, I would rather watch a skilled and experienced potty mouth that actually understand this game.

You never see the anonymous souls they pound on because those people don't stream and don't post in forums. You see it happen "then suddenly" when the big names put their foot across the line because the big names have a huge public presence.

Once upon a time, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I attended a local ice-hockey game between two "farm teams" for the National Hockey League (NHL).
I wore a team-jersey for the Monarchs (at the time, they were based in Manchester New Hampshire) and she wore a jersey for the Penguins.

There was a point in the game where we were both standing-up together and our arms were around each other's shoulders as we swayed to the music playing and the camera-crew put us on the big screen of the arena.

We, all of us, can be fans of a given sports team and not let that interfere with the rest of our lives or use it as an excuse for unwarranted violence.

This is exactly how you are supposed to treat your team. They're only there to distract your opponents and tank damage for you, so you can carry the game as much undisturbed as possible.

Personally, I disagree.

teamwork /tēm′wûrk″/

noun

  1. Cooperative effort by the members of a group or team to achieve a common goal.
  2. Work done by a team, as distinguished from that done by personal labor.
  3. Work done by a number of associates, usually each doing a clearly defined portion, but all subordinating personal prominence to the efficiency of the whole.

So only the WG haters have big public presence, non of the Pro-WG types?

Sure, it can happen, but I think we all know that this isn't the usual practice. Hand on heart, have you EVER screamed at the TV when a game was on? It has to do with investment and passion, without that you probably have 30 000 zombies up on the Bleechers.

It becomes this when you are skilled and many others you have on you're team isn't. You start to understand that you need to use some of youre teammates as "Meat shields" and try and get as much damage into the enemy team while these guys perform their YOLO suicides.

This video is a perfect example where 2 DDs do something that no one can understand. Somers at 32:50 and Yamagiri at 35:43

Yeah, that might work in an IRL socker team, but not in any team based online game. The main issue is that we have teams in this game but no one cares about that and that is actually WGs fault because NOTHING in this game promotes it.

It COULD work in this game if players was divided into 2 teams at start of the game (like now) but at the end of the game the good players got top score and win bonus and the crap ones got bottom and no bonus. Then no one would be mad if a teammates played like a donkey because it wouldn't effect you're outcome. This would probably also force the bad ones to "Git good".

Screamed at the TV?  Nah.  (I'm well aware that the players cannot hear me through the television screen.)
I've exclaimed on occasion in exultation or frustration at some points in a game, in the past.  I'm mostly over that, now.
I grew-up playing team sports, Ice-Hockey in particular, and prefer good sportsmanship.

Fights between players are unnecessary, in my opinion.
Sometimes I wonder if they're spontaneous or are perhaps scripted like entertainment in wrestling venues.
That, the "entertainment value", is why I think professional sports continues to allows fights among players, though.  Some paying fans like to see it, eh?

Just because You don't engage in team work doesn't mean there's no teamwork to be had. I frequently engage in teamwork (unless it's Coop)... It's there just waiting for You to take the first step.

What You call 'Pro-WG types' are far more likely to quietly abide by the rules than to defy and break the rules. That's something that happens in every aspect of life... Guys who commonly break the rules are those who most likely hate the rules and whatever enforces them.
