I'm not sure if this falls within the forum rules or not but knowing that many here are history buffs, I thought I'd toss it in...

A good friend of mine here in Japan has just released a new book on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (with a second volume coming out next year on Nagasaki) that I played a logistical role in. I was with him at the moment of it's (their, it became too long for a single volume) inspiration in 2016 and he's extensively researched it over the past 8 years. It's not political and not biased. It's a highly informative and well written account that combines all aspects of the missions and personal interviews of the "last witnesses" that experienced the effects on the ground. These are (mostly) people now well into their 90s. I've learned a lot even after being involved with the book and living among many families (including my own wife's) that were affected for 40 years in and around Hiroshima City.

Volume 1 of 2 "Embers"

"Hiroshima, The Last Witnesses"

It's available in most bookstores. I'm putting the US Amazon link here for reference but it's listed on their other localized sites.

Hopefully some of you will find it interesting.

I've visited Hiroshima a few times, and have rung the "Peace Bell".
I was stationed in Iwakuni from 1990 to 1991.
