Here's a link to the application.  https://wo.ws/3LYSD9B  It is not short and sweet, requiring a writing sample.  You can start it and continue later.

As a Wiki Editor you can receive:

  • The Wiki patch so your victims will know who killed them  image.png.d7f3e6ba3fbdd279a46779e971856da7.png
  • A press account containing all ships and potentially all elements in the game.
  • All the beer you can ... what? ... no?  Sorry, NVM.
  • Test ships to test and test missions to earn free ships.
  • With seniority, perma-boosters and Alabama VL.
  • Performance-based rewards.
  • A chance to use all that stuff you learned in school.
  • An environment where you can hobnob with some of the most infamous characters in WoWs history.

Applications will be judged primarily on writing ability.

Good luck!!

Good luck to all the applicants!

May your posts be true and informative...and may the office politics stay far away.

I’d like to, as there are more than a few articles than could stand to be corrected or have outdated information. Captain builds are also an area that needs heavy revision as some of the recommendations either don’t make sense or are valued way too low for the ship in question(for example, Brisk is an extremely valuable skill on Atlantico but is ranked as only frequently useful despite her excellent concealment allowing it to be used throughout the course of a match consistently, as well as being exceptionally valuable in the opening moments of game modes like ranked). Generally I feel like the Captain skills could be better, as some of the information could lead to new or learning players to take bad skills under faulty recommendations made by the wiki(like Tirpitz for example, whoever put those captain skills recommendation should be fired from the wiki team for that stupidity).

To be fair, those skill recommendations are at least marginally more useful than the skills suggested in the game client.

For some reason the devs gave Tirpitz the same recommended skills as the German battlecruiser line (which all have the same recommendations despite their differing capabilities, but that’s another, bigger issue with WG’s recommendations in general) rather than using the same copy-paste set that is applied to the German battleship line (including Bismarck). It looks like the wiki editor took what WG suggested and at least realized that taking FPE was probably a good idea.

I mean, who's running demolition expert on Tirpitz over Preventative maintenance at tier 1? Sure, it didn't always have the secondary and AA module but not getting your MB or engine(which happens frequently on german BBs) knocked out as frequently is far more useful than a 1% fire chance bonus on the secondaries(on the MB that's not noticeable and Tirpitz's HE isn't worth practically ever using over her AP).

But that's just one example, I've seen many other extremely questionable skill recommendations all over.

You have to remember that the wiki has been built over years and through many changes.  Yes, we know that there is much that is outdated.  However, there is a review process and you won't have carte blanche to alter the skill recommendations.  There will be some collaboration.

Whatever, I appreciate the passion and look forward to your submission.

Not gonna lie, looks  VERY tempting, but already have two up-to-date accounts.  Besides, I tend to be..... salty, which I doubt sits  well, ..... nor it shouldA48E2DD6-327E-4E69-B995-CD0955AA6217.gif

This would be a tempting thing to do........  Sadly, I have a book to finish writing and, I write in the Army writing style that seems to be too "succinct" to fit the WIKI narrative formats...

And, I think I'm in the same "boat" so to speak......  To be honest, I already have too many projects in work to tinker with a "game" versus say, working on Anti-drone shotgun based systems concepts for trucks, APC's and tanks.....

Infamous enough for a WG CM to tell you not apply for anything, because you are on a blacklist?

Or infamous like MrFingers or SkybuckFlying?

People think they'd like to see my stats until they would get to see my stats kind of infamous.

Indeed.

As am I.

Those are Nice, but what are an editor's obligations? How much time do I need to sink per week?

First thing I did this morning was toss my hat into the ring; being well written and having time on my hands.

However; after the fact, I took one look at the guys on the team currently and I am not this calibre of player. Nor do I have the years of experience they possess.

https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Wiki_Teams

So I do not think I will make a short-list but maybe give it the old college try the next time around. Unless they have some room for junior writers/editors that can help with some of the more mundane tasks - the stuff the professionals could use help with.

I reckon @iDuckman needs to sweeten the deal.

Pray he won't sweeten it any further.

A fair question, and one that's on the application.  You tell us what you can afford to commit; we'll tell you if it's enough.  Secret Rule of Wiki: RL comes first.

By and large, in the ship pages an article a month is more than enough.

--------
Now, as to obligations, there are rules that I can't talk about.  If you've seen Fight Club you understand.

Wiki editors are content creators and content maintainers.  A couple are infrastructure specialists.  You will have to understand a subject (ship or rules section) and write about it.  The other half of the job is formatting.  WikiMedia has a unique formatting grammar, and there is a Style Guide to follow.  For instance, direct references to ships are set in italics.

Part of the induction process and probation is learning what there is to be done and settling into your slot.

Oh, that and the hazing.

Damn super-unicums are high maintenance.  It would be nice to have a player of my own caliber around.

There is plenty of provision for consultation with the unicorns should you desire.  Your ability as a player is not really a criteria.  However, we do want someone with enough games to know how the thing works.

Keeping this lot in beer would bankrupt a country with a GDP like France.
