Starts: Aug 14, 02:00 AM PT (UTC-7) / your local time: Aug 14, 05:00 AM
Ends: Sep 4, 02:00 AM PT (UTC-7) / your local time: Sep 4, 05:00 AM

Step into Independent Federal Investigation Club SCHALE as we bring Kivotos and the exciting world of Blue Archive to World of Warships! We're thrilled to announce a collaboration that will bring its visually vibrant world to life on our high seas.

Five new Commanders with individual voiceovers are joining the roster! Please welcome delicate and warm Nonomi, accommodating and passionate Ayane, playful but valiant Hoshino, soft-spoken and caring Shiroko, and hardworking and kind Serika of the Foreclosure Task Force. And they are not alone in this endeavor! Additionally, three ships—BA Tirpitz, BA Takahashi, and BA Montana—plus four new flags, one very friendly looking patch, and three containers have been added to the game to enrich their arsenal.

More information about the Blue Archive collaboration will be available in a separate article, so keep your eyes peeled!

Yay! Moar Weeb!

(I live in hope that Kantai Collection will change their minds.)

I just feel indifferent with BA. Weegee's collaboration event is pretty much irreverent for f2p. If I don't pay I probably will get a few extremely low chance crate and maybe a few flag obtainable in a collection?

I am certain that I am happier to look at fanarts

I would like to wait and see will there be freebie event commanders from the event and that's all I want.

I feel indifferent with the majority of collaboration contents especially those that costs money, and in particular in my home country Blue Archive community is infamous for its toxicity, capriciousness, irrationality and impossible to please regarding collab.

I learned from the wiki-page, that the Blue Archive story has been made into an anime.  I plan to watch it, later.

Having a tier X, IX, and VIII ship makes sense, mirroring last year’s Colorful Regatta event (which is also returning next patch), but the specific ship choices are… interesting.

Montana - Fair enough, although it’s hard to justify playing the free version, yet alone buying a premium version, when Ohio exists.

Takahashi - Does anyone enjoy playing this ship? I certainly didn’t (thank goodness for Assymetric Battles and blue boosters), and I haven’t heard good things about her from other players either. There are a lot more attractive tier IX options WG could have gone with.

Tirpitz - Tirpitz is a solid and popular tier VIII battleship, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she is one of the better money-producing assets in WG’s pocket over her lifetime in game. But do we need a third version, especially when the original has been around for so long (and is already in a lot of ports) combined with the cheaper Black Friday version that goes on sale every year?

I've just got her very recently. Starting with Shimanto, I'm impressed with the Japanese CLs on the basis of their VERY rapid turret traverse, high proportion of turrets that turn 360 degrees, and excellent torpedo arcs when compared with the heavies at the same tier. This makes them very good and tactically flexible ships in the co-op melee meta. Their rate of fire leaves something to be desired, and I think a lot of us would have preferred that they be armed with Mogami 155's rather than a hypothetical 5.9 inch/150mm gun which is more typically a German calibre, but all those other positives need some sort of counterbalance, I suppose?

All three ships are safe, well-known (Montana's the oldest BB in the game along with Yamato), and not likely to be regarded as overpowered even by the most rabid and paranoid of the tinfoil-hat crowd.

I guess some people do better with 12 barrels than eight, the extra two inches notwithstanding? As with the Rochester for the Anniversary event, I wonder if this doesn't tie in to the fact that a whole bunch of people probably got the Doe Brothers with no coal or doubloon outlay. Newer players with money to spend, and who are months or years away from having enough T10s to unlock the research bureau and get the Ohio, might be the desired market here.

Alternatively: this is a collaboration, after all, and the collab partner might have something to say about the mix of ships and nations involved.

The first thing that needs to be said is that in collaborations, WG isn't necessarily the one setting the prices.

That being said, when this event meets your doubloons, there is only one possible outcome if you decide to buy in:

The three ships seem to be available for a week at a time each, and this shot from the Armory shows you the premium price you'll be paying:

Yes, that's more or less an admiral pack with a bunch of expendable goodies and an XP mission thrown in, but still... seriously, if you want the Tirpitz, just buy the Tirpitz

or wait for Black Friday to get it a little more cheaply even than that.

Prices for the premium-edition Takahashi and premium-edition Montana are not yet displayed, but you just know it's not going to be cheap.

Unless you are such a hardcore Blue Archive fan that you'd pay a significant premium to see your favourite shipgirl command your favourite boat with special colours, I'd steer clear of this one. It's a major doubloon-slurper. If WG or some streamer is giving away freebies then go for it; otherwise show it a wide berth.

I've seen a few B.A. Tirpitz ships being sailed in-game already.
Some players have the doubloons, it would appear.  🙂

Oh for sure. There's a subpopulation of players in this game with the disposable income to buy everything WG puts out and the time in which to play it. Technically speaking, I could afford it without any problems - but it's so much more expensive for the same functionality than the cheapest option that I choose to slap a "bad bargain" sign on it and move on.

Ultimately a player's money is theirs to do with as they want; I'm just laying out why I think it's more efficiently spent elsewhere.

From a cost-effectiveness standpoint, you're making sense.
From a weeb-fulfillment standpoint, the kawaii anime characters with their pleasant voices are only a treasure-chest of doubloons away.  🙂

I feel kind of bad for the fans who were excited about the two commanders placed in the reward track. It doesn’t look like there is any way to obtain the event tokens outside of purchasing bundles (in the fine WG tradition as of late, the news article for the event doesn’t drop until a day after the event drops in NA). Those two commanders are locked behind nearly 19k and 37.5k doubloon paywalls. Yikes.

Another cash grab from WG.

No option to obtain tokens through missions..... :classic_rolleyes:

Hard pass. :classic_angry:

Seriously WG... SIX of the same character in a 20 draw?

Yeah, yeah, I know you can have multiples, but I'd rather get the least valuable generic drop (credits?) than repeat drops of the same character...

I did better with an earlier ten draw.

Yeah I was wondering about how. Thanks for clearing that up.

Week Two:

image.thumb.png.3696dcbbc086e7aebe0a8b591d8c1db9.png

The event goes  monster eating vast quantities of gold coins

And my wallet goes Anthropomorphized wallet cowers in terror in a corner. Image 2 of 4

As with all these things, I take the position that it's the collab partner calling the shots here. You can only judge WG on what's wholly theirs.
