S7CentNickel Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Do the "new" New Years Camos have the permanent benefits that the old ones did before the rework? I know I have a few of the older ones that needed to be assigned to ships for their permanent boosts, and am having some problems remembering which were old/new.
Slammer58 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) I believe all camos are now just cosmetic. Looks purty, but provide zero benfits. Edited December 28, 2023 by Slammer58

WOWS camos might accrue the same benefit as actual camos by making the ships a tad less visible if they are the original camo types or the same color as the "water" on certain maps. Also, camos suggest to me that the player probably isn't just running a stock ship, especially if it's a permacamo that they have paid a couple hundred doubloons for. Personally, I like my ships to look somewhat historical, and if not that then hilariously funny. But, yeah, no economic benefits anymore, which is now a separate section.

Tbh, I don't know of any "generic" camo (generic = those that can be assigned to any ship, then they become permanent) which keeps its bonuses after the rework. Those who did, are specific to some ships (Roma, Kii, Prinz Eugen and few others ...) and ONLY IF you bought them before the rework. So I'm pretty certain that the New Year camos don't bring any bonus to the ship. Not going to actually test, because I don't like them. I'd gladly sell them if I could. 1

If you had camo/bonus that was unassigned to a ship when the change went into effect, the camo and the bonus were split apart. You had the same number of permanent bonuses to assign to ships as you did prior to the change. You probably applied the permanent bonuses (if you had any) but did not assign the camo. Since the change, you will have no camo that is still attached to a permanent bonus.

I checked carefully before I fitted one to my Santander, which already had a permabonus obtained from the earlybird event. If you still have New Year camos from before the change, then the econ part of them was separated off from the skin so you should have some Tier 8 Perma econ bonuses available to fit to ships that don't yet have them. 1
S7CentNickel Posted January 5, 2024 Author Posted January 5, 2024 Ok. Thanks for the information. I will find them. The only one I assigned was to my Kitakami. So I should still have a few available. As for the camo…more stuff clutttering my inventory.
xamdam Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 I only keep the perma-camos that come as mission rewards (can't sell them anyway, AFAIK). They get mounted to some of my favorite tech tree ships and probably look ugly as hell to the players on my team that don't have all the decorative camos turned off in their settings. If you do, it shows the normal, historic-ish perma camo which looks better than faded paint and rust.
