I recall that when the game first came out that you got port slots in containers occasionally but then it seemed that they removed that feature. It's interesting to see that it's back, at least in Santa's gifts. Looking into it, it seems that you have a 5.5% chance of getting one in a small Santa gift container.

I got one the other day, that makes 175 slots plus my 659 ships.

The drop rate is 0.5%.  So the chances are very, very low.

These drops happen once in a while - WG has to fill out remote chances to get , essentially, a 'nothing' (likely related to WG sense of corporate humour).

I got one just the other day.  I'd forgotten that they were even a thing.  Good to have as there are a number of ships that won't come with Port slots.  (i.e. piers)

The orientation in the crate should be rotated 90 degrees on the horizontal plane.

Having it packed in a crate the way WG does it, is inherently unstable for transportation.

If one of my commanders allowed that, I would court martial him or her.
