Admiral_Karasu Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 I hadn't been paying attention myself to what WG is releasing, and especially not that much to what they are pulling from sale. It appears there was T7 West Virginia '44 released in July. Then there was T9 Karl XIV Johan, and finally the T9 Navarin two weeks ago. All three have been removed from sale by WG. I watched a video by Sea Lord Mountbatten about this, which is how I found out about this. Now, he puts forward a couple of theories as to why. The more credibly sounding one is that WG is trying to make money out of FOMO. That sounds kind of... filthy. It occurred to me there might be an alternate theory, something he didn't directly mention, but he gives both the West Virginia '44 and Karl XIV Johan as examples of BB's with strong secondaries. I think the Navarin also had/has strong secondaries as well, so I'm starting to think is there something going on with WG and secondaries currently? 4
UnrepentantSinner Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Nothing to do with secondaries i think, they have been doing this for some time now. New ships like Velos, Almirante Grau, Schill and the ones you mentioned get introduced and you can only get them through some event, buying random bundles and so on and then they get removed, after 6 month they usually return and you can get them in the armory like all the other ships. 3
Admiral_Karasu Posted November 29, 2023 Author Posted November 29, 2023 Time will tell, then. If it's something like 6 months or so, these ships should be returning next year. I haven't been paying much attention lately, but have we seen many of the ships that were introduced relatively recently and then removed make it back? 3
aleksi111 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Wasn't Brisbane like described above? 1st as Offered ship followed by period of unavailability before coming into Armory? -as it was announced from get go. Was taking a long-ish WoWS break when the event was on, so I may well be off about the details 2

Nevermore135 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 All three of the ships mentioned in the OP were featured in events within the last half year. Such new ships typically feature briefly in the shop and armory, not being listed in the “ships” category in the latter so as to be ineligible for coupons, and after the event are removed for a period of time (usually 6 months or so) to generate FOMO and drive sales during said event (usually of overpriced bundles or sequential bundle chains). This has been WG’s SOP for years and has nothing to do with any characteristics of the ships themselves. 3 1

West Virginia ‘44 is being added to the Tier VII Premium Container ship list next patch. Not only are these containers incredibly accessible (available for CT in the Armory), but this usually coincides with ships being made available by other means. 1 1

Tier 7 is more fortunate for me in this regard as powercreep does not matter so much if I was to plan using the ship in operations. Not to mention tier 7 being a lot cheaper too, no matter what currency or resource. 2
